ABC cancels 'Flash Forward'

doubleohfive

Fleet Admiral
...but who didn't see that coming?

I got to see them shooting various scenes at the ABC lot a few months ago, and even nearly got run over by John Cho as he zoomed past me on a bicycle one day. Seemed like a nice guy.

Never saw the show, got far too behind on it and wanted to watch from the beginning ...

The real bitch of it all?

Now, my only real concern is that we won't have any sort of satisfying closure to "FlashForward." With shooting on the series presumably finished, the ending is more or less locked-and-loaded well before cancellation. We'll find out exactly how this whole thing plays out when the series ender airs on May 27, but at least one thing is certain: the next blackout won't come with any glimpses of the future for "FlashForward." We already know the show's ultimate fate.

Oh well.

I can't say I'm too heartbroken, as people could probably tell from my posts in the last thread in here on this show. This show is the definition of a good concept poorly executed. I still don't know the names of half the characters and I don't really care about any of them. So sad.

The thing about this show and similar series that have tried to resemble Lost is that they develop way to slowly and large parts of the audience become uninterested and stop watching.

What they need to do is go into these planning for the series to only last a season or two.

Would of been better as a movie, I think. I'm currently reading the book and haven't seen the series, but the way the story in the book is structured, I'm having a hard time seeing how a series could work. Robert J. Sawyer is a talented writer. It's too bad it had to end like this. On the other hand, even getting this far must of made him happy.

Sad, I enjoyed it to a degree, but I agree with the general population that it was poorly executed. I did wish it was gonna be a single season show however, as the premise only works so far. They should've picked a day in late May for the FF date, cos April 29 was over two weeks ago! Airing the finale it on the date would've been a nice touch.

Still gonna watch the last ones though.

blame the decision to postpone it's post xmas return to after the Olympics. that can't have helped.

i was enjoying that show!

In my opinion part of the problem with this show was that there was no other story to tell except the flash forward. And yeah, overall it was poorly executed like many have already said.

Yep...I agree. And I think the guy who played Mark, Finnes, was a terrible choice for a lead actor. He was so whimpy that I can't blame his wife for getting freaky with a boring dude from England.

This show had SUCH great promise but had too many pots on the oven.

Oh, and the four month break was not the problem..the bad writing was. It would have still crumbled to the end.

No big surprise. It started off interesting but it got very boring and melodramatic very quickly and it seemed as if the entire planet quickly forgot the horrible things that happened and the world seemed mostly back to normal.

It was an "interesting" show, sort-of but I just couldn't get back into it post-hiatus.

I'm disappointed because I thought it was a decent show and certainly held my interest longer than say, Heroes. I'm sick of investing into shows that get cancelled without decent conclusions, though.

Lots of potential, poor on execution. Stakes didn't feel as big as they should've because everything went back to normal on the planet way too quickly. They should've probably compacted the storyline, maybe have the flashforward be only five or six weeks into the future, and the episodes would be closer together.

That's a shame. I have seen it all thanks to series link and I thought it started off ok then was slow but has got a lot better in the last few weeks. Maybe they should have made less episodes per season, say 13 like Mad Men et al. I will miss it a bit and I think I will now read the book which I am sure is very good. Here in the UK they would probably given it another series as is common on the BBC for example. How else would 'The Life of Riley' (a very bad BBC sit-com) get renewed.
One clue that would struggle was it was on channel 5 here the only hit they have from the US is the CSIs.

Just a note, but the book is very different from the TV series to the point that they hardly have anything in common except for the overall basis. For one thing, the book is a lot more hard sci-fi and takes place at CERN instead of LA.

Well, this was no surprise, but it is disappointing. The show wasn't perfect-- there should have been more impact on society and economics from the blackout, and people should have been trying harder to alter their futures-- but it had a good cast and an interesting premise. It's one of only a handful of shows on now that holds my interest.

Eh, I gave up on it before now. I'd like to see John Cho, Christine Woods and Jack Davenport on shows in the future, though.

Maybe Cho and Quinto can get together for a buddy cop series now that both their shows have been axed. :rommie:
