They're "punching back" this season. Some of the nets have honchos they brought in from cable precisely for that reason and several of the new shows have a cable-y feel to them. So the fate of shows like Pan Am will reveal whether punching back is possible. The real problem could be in the business model of broadcast vs cable rather than anything to do with creative efforts.You know, at some point network TV has to punch back, or it will die.
