Looks like bad news for Pan Am.

Pan Am has received an order for 1 extra episode to bring its order to 14, and will be considered for a second-season pickup.
I'm not holding my breath.

I'll check out The River and maybe Work It just to see how bad it really is.

I don't know what to expect from The River. Could be fascinating, could be a joke. I'm definitely looking forward to checking it out, they've got me very curious. I also have to find out why I read that
the characters are being attacked by a giant Almond Joy.

Just as long as they don't mess which Once Upon a Time. And I disagree with the article - as far as I'm concerned one reason why OUAT is doing so well is it is attracting viewers looking for something to replace Desperate Housewives. GCB (whatever that is) really isn't going to cut it. It doesn't help that the title they're using for promoting makes it sound like another CSI, and its expanded form makes it sound like a religious program which will turn off a lot of people right there.

It's odd to hear that Pam Am might still get a second season. But there is precedent - ABC allowed the low-rated Better Off Ted a second season after only 13 episodes. Maybe they're hoping the show develops the same sort of cult following BOT got, only bigger. My guess is they'll pull it till rerun season then replay the whole thing in a more favorable time slot, including episodes not yet seen and either cancel it then or call for a second set of episodes for mid-season if it does OK.

nothing really there except maybe "missing" <(which I assume is a crime drama).

I'd classify it as a thriller. It's about a woman (played by Ashly Judd) whose son goes missing in Europe and she goes there to find him. She's an ex CIA agent. Sounds like the movie Taken with the genders reversed.

I saw the pilot for Work It last spring... it's awful. But, Rebecca Mader looks fabulous in it.

I've seen bits of The River, but didn't really care for it.

Better Off Ted only got a second season because of the writers strike and they didn't have any new shows to replace it.

Pam Am should be on at 9 after the new hit OUaT, that way it might get some viewers besides the few old woman who still watch DW.

ABC denies Pan Am is cancelled.
Insiders close to the series tell me that the ABC higher-ups still have hopes for Pan Am, however, they simply have "too many good shows" that are working right now so Pan Am will get a shortened freshman season. But the insiders say, it could very likely come back next fall or even late summer.

Trying it out as a summer series, or one that gets a jump start on fall, is an interesting idea.

Still, I wouldn't hold out too much hope. ABC is having a decent season this year without needing Pan Am, and in the sf/f genre alone, they've got an unbelievable number of series in development. They'll certainly get a full slate of likely shows for 12-13.
