    Garrett came before Janeway. ;)

    Enjoyed the clip, though!

And there was a female starship captain in STIV before Garrett.

Now, we just need one before Kirk and we can finally conclude that Janice Lester was coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs and stop citing her as a source for anything.

I say we go with John Byrne's version of events and nominate Number One for the position (he showed her commanding the Yorktown as a commodore).

Works for me. IMO, Byrne has been producing some of the best Trek in years. Between him and the Vanguard novels, it's been a bit of a TOS renaissance of sorts.

Did you stumble upon this while looking for Leonard Nimoy on the Carol Burnett show? I only ask because that's how I found it and I was curious if anyone turned up the Nimoy clip.

I hadn't seen this one in quite a while. Andrea Martin does a great spoof of Spock. I wondered who played Dr. McCoy, as she looks very much like Ellen DeGeneres. A little digging around turned up Linda Wallem. Meagan Fay played Scotty (terrific, wasn't she?).

Maybe now that CBS has the rights to the whole shmear, we can finally see that skit. I suspect that in past years there were some royalty issues (I hope it's not because the tape's been lost :scream: ).

    That was hilarious.

    Kirk: We've got breasts.
Uhura: You should see what I've got!

Found it looking for the "Mr. Spock/Dr. Spock" Nimoy clip.

And just for the nit-pickers: chronologically, Carol Burnett as captain, predates all others (yes, it was a parody, but we are talking TOS here, and there's a lot of that, that should be considered parody, and not canon... And STV... and Generations...)

This is from the 1991 Carol Burnett Show revival.

Whereas the skit with Nimoy in full Spock drag is contemporaneous with TOS itself.

I don't claim to be an expert of TOS/Trek parodies but the ones I have seen are hilarious. Especially the two done by In Living Color in the early 1990s. A young
Jim Carey as Capt. Kirk is beyond funny and should be watched by anyone who appreciates good humor in Star Trek.

^^Yes, the "Wrath of Farrakhan" as I recall - very funny!

My personal fave is the SNL skit with Belushi as Kirk and Elliott Gould as the NBC exec who delivers news of the show's cancellation to the cast.

Still one of the best where the fourth wall is not merely "broken", but completely dismantled!

Anybody have the early StarLog issue that printed the script and some really "dead-on" caricatures of the characters (based upon their original performers rather than the SNL cast)? I knew it only in print form for several years until SNL did a retrospective prime-time special. I think Dan Ackroyd (sp) did the best impersonations (performing both Scotty and McCoy), edging out and over John Belushi's Kirk.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

^^Sadly, all my old Starlogs are long gone, although I used to have that one.

BTW, loved Ackroyd as McCoy! "I'm a doctor not a tailor, damnit!"

Yeah, still have that Starlog, packed away at the moment.

Frankly, that's one skit I wouldn't mind seeing someone remake, say, on Cawley's bridge set. I'd even volunteer to play Herb Goodman. :D
