After all, for all we know in the future and in the alternate timeline, Al-Qaeda on Earth was highly respected and thrived as a peaceful culture. I think that it would show that the producers had made a decision to suggest in the new movie that hypothetically, we have moved on from any differences that we may have once had with them. What a way to show that resolve than to have someone from Al-Qaeda as a possible new bridge crew member on board the Enterprise. Remember, Star Trek has always been about tackling barriers within humanity that we face today in our times. Any thoughts?
