A Star Trek-Star Wars Crossover movie?

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but now that JJ Abrams is helming Star Wars, is there the possibility of a movie where the characters of Trek meet the characters of Star Wars, like the Alien vs Predator movie? A temporal portal bring the new Enterprise to a galaxy long long ago, in a galaxy far, far away...? The idea could be disastrous for both franchises, if not written properly, but if done well ... wow, maybe?;)

What do you think?

I'd say the odds are about zero. Disney and Viacom (through Paramount) have their own properties to pursue. Just because Abrams works for both doesn't mean they have to work together.

The odds are an imaginary number that, if ever actually iterated, would cause the universe to manifest itself as a sentient entity simply to speak the words "fuck it," then explode. Ain't gonna happen.

No just no!

I love Star Trek and I Love Starwars.

I love Curry and I Love Caviar

I would not mix either of them!

No. Never gonna happen. It would be a mess and doing so would probably just ruin both franchises. I doubt Gene Roddenberry would even approve of it....

About the same chance as there is of a X-Men vs Watchmen movie. Thankfully.

R2-D2 already appeared in ST 2009, so there's your crossover. Artoo is space junk now. Poor little droid.

I'd probably pay 5 bucks to see Kirk tell a Skywalker that Hokey Religions and Ancient weapons are no substitute for a good phaser by your side. I'd throw in another 2 if he refered to Spock as Spocky shortly thereafter.

The two worlds don't 'meld' well :). They are way too different, and as much as I enjoy both, the mysticism, and even more fanciful technology of Star Wars just would not work in Star Trek's scifi.

No. The reason Alien vs. Predator was possible is because 20th Century Fox owns both properties. Abrams doesn't own Trek and SW; he was simply hired to co-produce and direct them by the people who do own them. CBS owns Star Trek (with Paramount holding the movie rights), while Disney owns Star Wars. Unless Disney swallows up CBS, a Trek/Wars crossover is never going to happen onscreen.

Though it might potentially be possible in licensed comics. Marvel did Trek/X-Men crossovers when they had the Trek license, and IDW has done a Trek/Doctor Who crossover as well as partnering with DC for a Trek/Legion of Super Heroes crossover. In theory, if IDW ever got the SW license or Dark Horse got the ST license, then you might conceivably see a comics crossover. But as things stand, I wouldn't bet on it.

If this happend you may as well show JJ Abrahams rapeing Spock and a Stormtrooper thats what it will basicly come down to.......

Well they would finally have to settle the question of who would win in a fire fight, Enterprise or a Star Destroyer.

Well, I boycotted Episode I: The Phantom Menace -- for an entire week.
Why? What's to boycott? Isn't Star Wars good old fashioned sci-fi? Harmless fun? Some people call it "eye candy" -- a chance to drop back into childhood and punt your adult cares away for two hours, dwelling in a lavish universe where good and evil are vividly drawn, without all the inconvenient counterpoint distinctions that clutter daily life.
