A Sad Day In The DJ Household

The Boy Who Cried Worf

Rear Admiral

This afternoon my girlfriend's little pug/chihuahua mix Lulu had to be put to sleep. Last night my girlfriend called me to her house because Lulu was sick. At the time we thought it was just an upset tummy and she seemed better as the night went on. This morning she had to go to the vet and after running some tests we found out Lulu had problems with her lungs. My girlfriend had to make that all too common choice: spend a fortune and not be assured Lulu would even have a good quality of life or make the decision to end her life. As much as she loves her dogs it hurts her too much to know they might be in pain and she bravely made the decision.

Lulu's story is one reason why I consider my girlfriend the sweetest person in the world. Lulu already had one eye missing when she was adopted and was going blind in the good eye. On top of that she was a barker and an attention whore. Consequently she had had multiple owners and the pound couldn't find another home for this little girl. When my girlfriend heard that it broke her heart and little Lulu came home with her to live out the remaining four years of her life being a papmepered and loved little princess.

I wish I could offer some comforting words, but I know how much it sucks to lose a pet. She certainly looked like an adorable dog!

What a cutie she was. I too, know how difficult losing a pet can be. My heart goes out to you and your girlfriend.

it is wonderful that your girlfriend gave lulu a loving home for that time.
though the death is a loss that should be of some comfort.

Very sad. :( Putting your Pet to sleep is always a terribly hard decision, because you feel responsible for them and you want to save them if it's at all possible. But sometimes the most compassionate thing to do is to end their suffering. Your girlfriend was very kind to take on an animal that nobody else wanted and to give her a good home for the rest of her life.

RIP, Lulu. :(

I'm sorry to hear this. You and your girlfriend gave her a good life and you should always be proud of that.

What you did for that dog was awesome! She was loved and that's all that matters.
Condolences.

Poor doggie. Sounds like she had a good life thanks to you! My sister's sweet beagle, Penny, died this week, too. :( It never easy to lose a pet.

We just had to put a beloved pet to sleep. It hurts.

But your friend gave Lulu a wonderful life for the last few years of life. That's a good thing.

:( I'm sorry to hear about that, DJ. At least she was loved for her last few years.

I offer my condolences, like others have said already, it's always hard letting your pet go. At the very least, she knew she was loved and cared for her final years, which is all they really want.
