A Private Little War-First Impressions

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
1)Why does the Landing party consist of three very critical officers and no security?
2)Starfleet medical knowledge seriously can't do anything about a Vulcan getting shot by a musket? With a Vulcan specialist on board?
3)Muguatu=Rawk
4)I bet Tyree's wife is into some freaky circus sex. I get that vibe from her.
5)The Klingons really don't have anything better to do than screw with some jerkwater plantet?
6)The slapping scene was amusing
7)Overall I was pretty meh on the whole episode

To address some of your questions/comments:

1)Why does the Landing party consist of three very critical officers and no security? To make the story interesting... J/K Maybe to not provoke or alarm the inhabitants.
2)Starfleet medical knowledge seriously can't do anything about a Vulcan getting shot by a musket? With a Vulcan specialist on board? Not sure why that is such a problem for Starfleet medical staff but Vulcan physiology is certainly complex.
3)Muguatu= Was one of the better aliens costumes.
4)I bet Tyree's wife is into some freaky circus sex. I get that vibe from her. I would concur with that. She was pretty...kinky...Tasty...
5)The Klingons really don't have anything better to do than screw with some jerkwater planet? In their race with Star Fleet etc to conquer/influence the galaxy every planet counts.

Overall I would give this episode an 8/10.
The story was solid. Tyree's wife was very nice yummy...
I like the struggle with Klingons for planet alliance. That theme should have been explored more in depth than in the handful of episodes that feature it. The cheesiest part of the episode was when Kirk was recuperating in the cave.

1) Well, perhaps they didn't want to provoke the Organians. I mean,

5) being under surveillance by a superpowerful lifeform may put even the Klingons on meek mode. Here and in "Trouble with Tribbles" and "Friday's Child", they really did seem to take seriously the idea of working by the letter (but of course bending the spirit) of the peace treaty. And in "Day of the Dove", Kang takes pride in the Klingon adherence to that treaty, in an early example of the Klingons-are-horonable-to-a-fault cliche.

2) Not sure if Starfleet medicine really had any particular problem with that musket wound being in a Vulcan chest. I mean, it's not as if McCoy has achieved better or faster results with humans, either. The one time he patches up similarly serious bodily harm, in "Day of the Dove", he is unwittingly being assisted by an evil lifeform that repairs the patients for him. Apart from that, the only traditional surgery we witness him doing is the heart operation on Sarek. And that takes an eternity, like it should.

3) Mugatu was one of the better man-in-gorilla-suit costumes in television (apart from the times when we're supposed to think it is a man in a gorilla suit, that is).

4) I want two of those to go, please.
