A personal prediction for a future L&O episode...!

Several months (or maybe a year) from now, we'll see a Law & Order episode in which there's a political assassination. The culprits responsible were fanatical supporters of the politician's opponent, one of whom was overheard to yell "Kill him!" at a political rally. Yeah, I know - so far, so familiar. But it turns out that the political rival has a far stronger link with the assassins, and the rival politician is put on trial for inciting violence (and knowing McCoy's tactics these days, possibly terrorism!)

P.S. I voted for Obama, by the way.

I assume you realize the reporters claim someone shouted "kill him" at a McCain event was entirely without merit.

Since L&O tends to advocate for left of center views at every turn, I wouldn't be surprised if this story turns up.

Not to indulge in too much hairsplitting...but are you saying that the sound of someone yelling "kill him!" in news footage of the event was somehow...faked?? And if so...what would be the reason??

[*AHEM!*] Any takers? Anyone? ;)

Well, this is just yet another sign of what I consider a rather disturbing trend in terms of the intermingling of politics, technology and the subjectivity of individual people's perceptions. I myself saw news footage of a McCain event, and even though I can't remember whether or not McCain or Palin was the speaker, I do remember quite clearly someone yelling "Kill him!" once when Obama's name was mentioned.

But what are we to make of those people who insist that such an event never took place, and that any claim that it did is "entirely without merit"? I suppose someone could very well make a claim that the audio portion was faked, that is if they were actually that intent on clinging to a positive view of McCain and Palin. (And by no means am I saying that any positive view of McCain and Palin is without merit! I certainly don't want things to get too ugly - or even too political! - here.)

But then we start getting into rather thorny terrain, in terms of how people deal with and process mediated reality. Since so much of the information we receive comes from electronic media these days, and that there is always the overhanging threat of the manipulation or corruption of information, it seems like that serves as rationale enough for a kind of ideological subjectivism, for people to blindly cling to whatever ideology or belief system suits them. It doesn't even matter whether or not any information challenging their beliefs can indeed be substantiated, the mere whisper of a notion that it may be less than 100% unreliable would seem to be justification enough for throwing the baby out with the bathwater! :(

My point? Gee, I don't know. I guess I'm just musing idly. No offense whatsoever to anyone who happens to disagree! :)

But getting back on point: What do you think would make a great idea for a future Law & Order episode (any incarnation)?
