A new Star Trek series should be set....

TransporterBeam

Lieutenant Commander
Either during an era before or after the Original 5 year mission series which just touched the surface of the 23rd Centrury. or before the TNG or what would work best is a whole new show set 100 years after day one of TNG. The Enterprise G would be the setting.

I think the new series should be a fantastic tale of my crabs exploring the strange new worlds of my nuts.

It doesn't matter when, or where it's set. As long as it has strong characters, good writing, some adventure and a lot less technobabble, than it will be a good show.

It'll be a long time before a suitable TV venue can be found for "Star Trek" again. By that time the property will have evolved sufficiently that the current parameters in terms of characters and settings may be meaningless.

i don't like the past. 'enterprise' wasn't technically the past but it felt like the past in the trek universe. that's why i like sci-fi, i like to see the future. i know the past, 'we're all from the past' anyway ((c) mighty boosh).

i'd like something either
-right after tng
or
-even long after, e.g. the 'time wars' periods.

I'd like a Trek series set around the time 200,000 years BC.
I dont want it to have anything to do with Earth or the Federation, it will be called:

Star Trek: Iconia.

It will be set on the Iconian Homeworld and the series will be set around the Iconian civilisation/Empire.;)

Wicked cool eh.

OR

I want it set around 600,000 years BC and it will be called:

Star Trek: T'kon

It will be set on the T'kon Homeworld and the series will be set around the T'Kon civilisation/Empire.;)

I have to agree with what Smeos said, it really doesn't matter when the show is set as long as it's got good characters and interesting stories.

Yeah, but a compelling TMP/TNG borderline "Lost Years"-Era story would be nice. Fewer discovered species & a diversified crew with more stories to tell.

(A Loknar-Class vessel & crew, including everything from Humans, Edosians, Tellarites, Vulcans, to recently-discovered Trill.)

But the compelling characters is what would make that series compelling - not the fact that it was set in the Lost Years.

I think any new star trek series should be set in 1993, before anything interesting happened. Oh and the main Character should be Bill Clinton, who will always wear a TOS era gold captain uniform with the enterprise insignia, but no one knows why.

There will not be a new show within the next 5-10 years so it doesn't matter.

The best bet is if Star trek 11 does REALLY well and The CW needs a new show to stop it from going bankrupt.

I think, if the next Trek series ends up on the CW, I shall stab my eyes out.

You seem a bit certain of everything here. You some kind of shiny CBS exec?

It's thinking like that forced the TCW plotline on Enterprise.

The CW isn't going to survive long enough to have anything to do with Star Trek.

As for the "no new show within 5-10 years" thing...people were predicting after ENT was cancelled that we'd hear nothing from Trek for a decade. Look how that turned out.

Never underestimate the power of potential profits to speed things along.
