A must-read Nimoy interview by the LA Times:

"This is the first and only time I ever had a filmmaker say, 'We cannot make this film without you, and we won't make it without you,' " Nimoy said with another one of those startling smiles. "J.J. Abrams said that -- that's a pretty heavy statement. And when you see the film, you see how central the character is to the story they've told."

Nimoy said that watching the new film was "a very emotional experience for me. The cast recaptures the chemistry that I felt was so important to the original series. I never stopped caring about 'Star Trek,' but this made me care even more about it."

After reading the article, I have to say that I have the utmost love and respect for this man.

Shatner's reaction was to keep his tickets to the premiere unused and try to sell them afterwards instead of selling or giving them away to someone who wanted to go.

Shows how different those two personalities are.

Yeah, how dare Shatner not go! And how dare he sell his unused tickets on Ebay for charity!!!

Honestly people, Shatner has said nothing but nice things about the movie and JJ and Pine. Maybe he was busy and couldnt make the premiere. Maybe he just didnt want to see a movie that he wanted to be in, but was not.

And you know, Patrick Stewart never showed up, how dare he!!! Who does he think he is???? And why wasnt Brent Spiner there? And Nichelle Nichols? And.....

Just give it a rest already.
