Now, would anybody here like to guess from what 1963 film I took those b/w captures? :p

Battle Beyond the Sun?

You mean the Cormanized version of the 1959 Soviet Film Nebo Zovyot ("The Heavens Call")? Close but no cigar! ;)
Yeah, that one. Admittedly, I've never seen it (otherwise I'd know I was wrong; I have a pretty good memory for film) but it was the only black and white space-based science fiction movie I was aware of from that year.

Hmmm.. "Astronauten" (I don't know the english title) by Lem? I heard there is a GDR/Polish movie version?

^ Kurt Maetzig's Der Schweigende Stern (1960). Another very good guess, but again sadly incorrect. However, an early Stanislaw Lem novel also served as the conceptual basis for our mystery movie. Clue: Think Greek.

I kinda wish you would just tell us so that I can start analyzing the significance of the visual echoing that's taking place between the two films. :p

Never mind, found it.
