A little bit of me time...

After a few days of dealing with my sons application and interview to College, a 'friend' who has repeatedly let me down, a friend with a very poorly Mum and me only able to walk like a robot with a bad back plus dealing with usual life crap, I am taking a bubble bath with an aromatherapy mask (no photos!) a glass of wine and a good book. Heck, I may even have a ciggie too. So what's everyone elses perfect 'check out and relax time'?

for me t would have to be sitting in the spare room with my mp3 layer listening to a few shelock holmes books, just close my eyes and let my brain take me to victorian london

Cup of coffee and Wikipedia.

Taking a loooooong walk -- 2 or 3 hours or more, or a bike ride in the summer, with the company of my iPod -- that's my ideal way to check out. Alas, it's about 15 degrees outside, so I am doing my second favorite relaxation activity: lazing. I'm just watching DS9 on dvd, playing around online, and eating cucumber slices.

Lying in bed, listening to music on my 4 year old mp3 player, and imagining what all those songs look like as they pass inside my head.

This: laptop on my lap, roaring fire, episode of NCIS on the dvd player, husband snoozing on the couch. Nice, quiet me-time.

An empty house for a couple of hours.

Sweet, sweet heaven :)

As it is, that's not going to happen, so I'll take half an hour once the kids are asleep and before I fall asleep to have a cup of tea and read a few chapters of a Dick Francis novel.

A long walk deep in the woods, better if I got myself lost for an hour or so.

No! Getting lost too stressfull:lol:

Listening books v v good idea. I totally recommend Alan Bennetts 'Talking Heads'.
And hey don't do the face mask bit, answered the phoned and my 'skin' fell off:guffaw:
Feel more relaxed now thou...

Normally, I have liked to sit and either play computer games, surf the web with music in the background, or watch TV. However, I'm finding more and more that if I can just survive the week, I like going out on Saturdays and just running alone for 3 or more hours. Fill a backpack with water and some snacks, plug my mp3 in, and just go. If I can get someone to drop me 3 or more hours from campus, then it's even better because then I won't be around anyone as I work my way back home.

It can be fun when following a blazed trail becomes too routine. It becomes more interesting and forces one to really look around, trying to find the way back to civilization.

Ok we'll agree to differ on what relaxation means to us:lol:.
I'd put that more into the 'I want to get up and achieve something' catagory:)

MP3 player and the gym. Thursday nights are best for this as it's pretty quiet in there (sometimes I'm the only one in) but it's my best way to relax.

Browsing the internet used to be relaxing, but seeing as I work here and run/host a few sites relax time is rare now.

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference."

I like this idea, Finn. Very transcendentalist. :)
