When I was 10 yr Star Trek really became part of my life;) Yea I remember watching at home Star Trek 1, 2 and 3. But Trek 4 and the start of TNG was my true start in Trek. TNG was the new crew. The young crew. After all the original crew was so old! Hell the original crew show came out in 1966;) As a 10yr born in 77 that was near biblical times;)

But you know what? NEWS FLASH!
"My" new crew is the old crew;) I grew up on TNG, Ds9, Voyager and Enterprise. That means from 10-27 I was watching new trek shows.
But alas now I am the old one.

A 10 year old boy now was not born during TNG. A 10yr old boy now was not born when DS9 ended! If that did not freak ya! They were 2 when Voyager ended! This upcoming movie is "that" 10 yr boy's new crew. I can hope and dream this movie does great and next year maybe a new series will be created. Then another and another. So when he is 31 he will post a similar post

But the shows are not forgotten. My 8 yr has set in my office and watched all the DVD's Also the TNG, Ds9, Voyager and Enterprise will always be my "new crews"

 Hey, it's not so bad. I love my memories of being 13 when Star Trek premiered in September, 1966 -- which is something I have in common with the OP poster. He/she loves the memories, too. We were even living in L.A. at the time, and the outdoor locations looked like local landscape.

We all have two choices: get older or stop living. I choose the former if its up to me, and with that comes a constant parade of younger generations and outlooks. It won't be the first time you think it, PhotoM; and I hope you keep your sense of wonder.

Its just there are not many shows "simpsons" That you can watch for 21 years with new episodes. Time moves fast. To think "I have watched new trek for 21 years;)

I think I became a Trek fan at about 8 years old--and it's pretty amazing how much I've changed since then. I really fell for the idealism of TNG then...but now that I'm older, it's the complexity and darkness of DS9 that I relate to the most--and as Garak would say, I've become distrustful and suspicious, and it suits me. ;)

^ I second Nerys Ghemor on this. I am a young man myself but I now feel more bitter and cynical towards the world around me, which is why DS9 is my favorite Trek series.
