8.6 on imdb is nothing less than fucking extraordinary. When it went to 8.4 I was very impressed already, but 8.6 is unbelivable - and even though I loved the movie maybe even a little exaggerated imo. Yes, it's very good, but I'm not sure it's that good. ;)

eta: just for reference - if 8.6 holds, that would put this movie in the top50 of all time comfortably!...
 
Oh my, it sits at #82 on IMDb's Top 250. According to their users, a STAR TREK film is one of the 100 best films of all time! :lol: I AM dreaming!

Whether what it shows is good or bad, I can never bring myself to care what Rotten Tomatoes shows a film to be.

Film itself was pretty good.
 
^^Unless they have now reversed the odd-even-rule! :lol: But seriously, I never would've believed Star Trek would ever be getting raves like this. The combination of critical acclaim (RT) and love from the general audience (IMDb, box office) is encouraging.
 
Let's slow down here, eh? While RT and Metacritic scores are more or less final when all reviews are tallied up, IMDB is a static bunch. I suspect that once more people watch the movie, the score will drop somewhat. The Dark Knight used to be at the top of the list, but now it's #6 and the Godfather films and the Shawshank Redemption regained their lead over TDK.

However, I'll still be happy if the film remains in the top 200.

Probably yes. But if the movie just manages to stay above 8 that would still be outstanding imo, I didn't expect anything like that.
 
This was the first time I overheard average moviegoers discussing RT percentages. Some older woman in line: "Yeah, it's a 96 percent".
