http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/4608424/Scientists-find-Pink-Terraces-on-lake-floor As a New Zealander, this is an awesome find.
Re: '8th wonder of the world' rediscovered after 125 lost That's great news. They were the country's prime tourist attraction, weren't they? It must be pleasing to find that a genuine piece remains.
Re: '8th wonder of the world' rediscovered after 125 lost Can a Mod please put the word 'years' in the thread title? I fluffed up.
Re: '8th wonder of the world' rediscovered after 125 lost If New Zealand lost 125 wonders of the world, should we trust you with this one?
Re: '8th wonder of the world' rediscovered after 125 lost I thought 125 people died in the search for this 8th Wonder.
Re: '8th wonder of the world' rediscovered after 125 lost 125 felony indictments. I wonder how much of the terraces remains. They look like they were quite beautiful.
That's funny, I'd never heard of these before, but I was just watching Billy Connolly's World Tour of New Zealand and he was on the lake where the Pink Terraces used to be and he talked about the history of the area. Pretty neat.
Re: '8th wonder of the world' rediscovered after 125 lost The Wiki article says approximately 120 people died in the eruption that destroyed the terraces, so that's a little spooky.
Re: '8th wonder of the world' rediscovered after 125 lost 8th Wonder of the World? Quick, send Karl Pilkington there! "I'll make up my own mind if it's a wonder or not"
Now if you'd just find those missing Doctor Who episodes we all know are down there, I'll be impressed
And I thought this thread was going to be about either finding King Kong or Patsy Kensit's old band getting back together.
I foresee... $20.00 (insert appropriate currency symbol) glass-bottom boat rides. "Look, honey, I think I see something round!" Anyway, neat news.
