Clara is summoned to an impossible conference call, alerting her that the deadly Whisper Men are closing in on Vastra, Jenny and Strax. Someone is kidnapping the Doctor’s friends, leading him toward the one place in all of time and space that he should never go. It’s a deadly trap that threatens to unravel his past, present and future..

Well after a bumpy week we're finally here. The last episode of the season before the big hiatus to series 8 begins.

I have a feeling Moffat will quickly address the issue the title of the episode is about in the first 5 minutes.

Odds are the mystery will stay a mystery and only the characters will know the name of the doctor.

Stay tuned at the end for a possible look at the anniversary special!

If they don't address and solve the three Clara issue in this episode, it will automatically get a poor grade. It's already felt like an entire year since Asylum of the Daleks. They've got to do something, right?

I think that they'll pack so much into this episode that it will feel completely rushed, and I don't expect any earth-shattering revelations, but I do expect them to explain Clara. The leaked synopsis suggests they will at any rate. If they DO surprise me (like a Ten & Rose appearance at the end of the episode or something) I will take my hat off to them.

Short of something major like revealing the doctor to be the Master or Clara a living Tardis, I think just about anything they do will fail short of the expectations.

Trenzalore, amusing to note something that was found by observant folks in one of the preview pictures. It's an easter egg, not a spoiler but let's put it in tags anyway.
One of the grave stones is for Clemency Bunn, one of the scenic artists on the 50th special. That was cute.

Looking around at some of the clips online, Strax continues to bring the funny.

Fingers crossed that this will be entertaining and not shark jumping.

Same here. If it was RTD running things, I'd be a bit more optimistic.

Also will have to DVR it and watch later, instead of the live broadcast.

RTD's record on season finales living up to the build wasn't that great. Episode 12 was almost always a lot better (personally I'd say always a lot better, though for season one that's not because of anything wrong with Parting of the Ways).

Is it really the end of Season 7 already?

I don't know what to expect here. The Doctor hasn't made much progress on the Clara issue, so it's hard to believe that will all be solved in this one episode...

Bummer we have to wait so long for Season 8.

:scream:

I agree that it's all how each individual views things. I'm just not that overly keen on Moffat's writing, at time the show comes across as a convoluted, timey-whimey mess that shows no indication that the Moff really has a plan.

Still, I'll remain open-minded on this ep until I see it, mainly because I really want it to be good. But I also agree with one of the above posters that there's an awful lot to cram into a single episode and try to resolve.

I can't even remember what is being resolved, uh Silence fall, uh, fields of uh... Is that the Silence race or some other Silence? Is that race still around? He erased himself from history, uh

yeah, but thinking about it does he ever make that much progress on the big mystery things?

I mean he always just wonders around until the damned thing pretty much explains itself to him.

Frankly, I think the problem is that he has too many plans.
He starts the season with a clever, left-field, well thought out idea. But halfway through production he wakes up in the night with a new idea, and adds it in, and in the process the original idea gets over-complicated and lost, and the season finale disappoints.
