I have to say this is pretty terrible. Can't they just legalize it already?

The picture accompanying the article is beyond awesome:

edit:
Whoops, sorry for off-topic. I thought I was in Misc.

Thirty years, really? Wouldn't the time to charge and arrest have come and gone long ago? If not, this seems to scream "trying to make a quota!" to me. Sheesh.

Yeah, you'd think the statute of limitations would've ran out on this. Although, the article does say it was a federal drug charge which may have no SoL on it.

**Yep. We need to make an example out of her. She's a detriment to the youth of America.

** Read this post in a voice dripping with sarcasm and massive eye-rolling

The article itself does not identify just how much pot we're talking about. If she was selling a small amount, that's one thing, but if she had kilos of the stuff, that's another.

Regardless of whether you think pot should be legal (given that tobacco and alcohol are, I find it hard to argue against it), she still had a warrant out for her arrest.

The fact it was from 30 years ago makes it ludicrous though.

The amount probably should make a difference. Isn't Canada the sort of place that would extradite a drug dealer to us? Regardless, fleeing an arrest warrant and then trying to come back into our country is kind of a dumbass move, so I'm not going to cry too much for her.

After 30 years, I can see where she thought it would be safe and assumed it had expired. Although I wonder what the circumstances were when she fled. Something must have occured for it to be active for 3 decades.
