Highlights include:

Best Film - Drama
Best Film - Comedy or Musical
Best Series - Drama
Best Series - Musical orComedy

I think Inception, Alice in Wonderland (which I didn't like), Mad Men (which is just how it will be), and Modern Family have this on lockdown.

Laura Linney is nominated for best actress in a TV comedy for The Big C. I think it's highly likely she will win this one. Terrific performance.

Out of the Comedy/Musical Best Film category, I've only seen The Kids Are All Right, which was fantastic, and Alice in Wonderland, which was horrible. I'd love for The Kids Are All Right to win.

Terriers and Sons of Anarchy both deserved to be nominated for Best Drama Series. As much as I'm loving The Walking Dead, Terriers was better. Unfortunately, barely anyone watched it. The love for Dexter confuses me; I've tried watching season one on three separate occasions, and can't get more than four episodes into it before I lose interest. I'm woefully behind on Boardwalk Empire even though the episodes I saw were damned good, and Mad Men is... well, it's Mad Men, so it's brilliant.

I suggest watching episodes 5-12 to start. :p Or check out Season 4, which I think is the best season of television ever.

I have to admit, "watching episodes 5-12" does sound like a logical suggestion. ;) I'm sure I will get around to it one of these days; I have a couple friends who keep urging me to do so because they love the show. Those first few episodes, though, keep pushing me away to one of the other many shows on my list each time I do decide to give Dexter a shot.

The Social Network will win.

Bad year for comedies and musicals, I mean The tourist and Burlesque? Really?!?!

Interesting that The Good Wife is the only network show, and will most likely get canceled.

Why does the TV Comedy section have six picks when the others have five?

Agreed there on musicals... Burlesque... I've heard nothing but negative reviews about that movie.

As for Dexter and the Walking Dead, congrats to them. Along with The Good Wife. Those are well deserved nods.

Also congrats to the Fighter, that really looks like it'll be a good movie to see once it comes out on DVD.

The Kids Are All Right has the Musical/Comedy category pretty much locked, seeing as it's the only one in the category that got mostly positive reviews.

I would really love to see Inception and Nolan get some love, though. That's easily been my favorite film this year.

I really don't get the love for The Kids Are Alright; good acting but very average otherwise. And to call it a comedy is just weird. They really should scrap this Musical/ Comedy category and just go for the 10 Best Picture noms like the Oscars if they're not going to acknowledge more offbeat comedy. Surely a nom for Scott Pilgrim here would have been expected?

Couldn't be any worse than the Cher movie or The Tourist, both of which no one seems to like.

Well, considering how well reviewed SP was (still at 80% on Rotten Tomatoes) and how The Tourist's nomination reportedly elicited laughter from assembled journalists this morning, I think it would have been more worthy. But then the Golden Globes really don't count for much anyway.
Roll on the Oscars.

I'm behind Walking Dead. I get neck aches from tension while watching it.
As for the rest-no opinion because I don't watch them.

If I were to nominate anything I watch-it would be Fringe. Supporting actor for the guy that plays Walter.

I'm going to go ahead and guess that not a single member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association even saw Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. If any of them did, they probably just shoved it off as a dumb video game movie.

Note, I'm not saying that's my opinion of it. In my opinion it was absolutely great.

There are jokes around that none of them saw The Tourist, they just picked it because they love Johnny Depp so much.

Hell they picked "Crash" as best movie when year when it was one of the worst things I have ever seen in my life.

Anyone who isn't hooked after the first 15 minutes of the first episode isn't going to like it any better if they keep going. Hey, I don't understand how anyone can stand that booooring Mad Men, but apparently people do!

Anyway, looks like it was an unusually good year for miniseries for a change.

Just curious, how many episodes does a show have to have to be eligible for the best drama series award? The Walking Dead has only aired six episodes, and while I have no problem with it being nominated I think it is almost a cheat relative to other series which have to maintain a high quality level over 10-20 episodes or even more, every season.

Six episodes to me would fall, and fit more fairly, into the miniseries category.

The Tourist isn't a comedy so why worry about TV show meanings.

As long as it has more than two episodes and is planning another season I see it as a TV show. Miniseries tell a complete story in only a few hours.
