I really wish Doctor Who would stop with these action-packed-the-whole-world-in-the-balance-fireworks-explosions-end-all-be-all episodes and specials. Sigh. Cybermen...again.

We've not had the Cybermen for ages - since series two, unless you count that Torchwood episode. Compared with Daleks, that's an eternity.

Doctor Who has certain things it is expected to deliver, things that are all part of the appeal for most people, especially on Christmas Day. By all accounts, it is somewhat more intimate than previous Christmas extravaganzas, but you aren't ever likely to get a two actor character piece from these sorts of episodes.

Exactly so. I'm not necessarily thrilled about seeing the Cybermen (especially these faux-Cyberman), but better that than the bloody Daleks, again.

Well, I am a bit disappointed that it's another Cybermen episode--I was rather hoping for a new villain this time. But, from the clip, it looks like there's a lot more than that going on, so I shall just wait and see.
