3-D games in 1st person or 3rd person perpective?

Let's talk about the possibilities of stereoscopic 3-D videogames.
Not the issues with 3-D glasses you must wear, not the issues with what 3-D monitor you need, or what 3-D videographics card is required, not about any additional product cost due to it being programmed for stereoscopic 3-D.

Do you think a 1st person perspective 3-D game would be better than a 3rd person perspective game ?

Will stereoscopic 3-D save PC gaming from the console gaming systems dominance?

the only question remaining is this: "What's going to be the big game-play breakthrough in 3D?"

Will game trailers using in-game footage be created in stereoscopic 3-D and played before movie trailers at a 3-D digital screening in the cinema as advertisements?

Would you want a Star Wars sterescopic 3-D videogame similar to Star Wars: The Old Republic
(cinematic video length: 3:52)

Well, be careful about making it too realistic....

3rd person. Compensates for the limited field of view and that you can't sense stuff going on behind you.

Depends entirely on the game and they mood they're trying to invoke. For adventure games, I prefer 3rd person. I can't stand first person games like Myst, as they all tend to feel solitary with no people to interact with, and mostly abstract mechanical puzzles. I like seeing my avatar walking around and interacting with other people.

Third Person and First Person shooters are pretty much genres of their own. Some try to do both, but for the most part, they're both designed to use their viewpoints as best as possible and would seem rather odd from any other viewpoint.

Racing games, I go either way, although they don't always have cockpit views, sometimes I'm forced to use a 3rd person camera view. Sometimes they do, and their sense of speed while being in the cockpit is a bit off and I end up driving 3rd person anyway. Test Drive Unlimited was one of my favourites. Loved driving from the cockpit.

Nintendo looks to 3-D console to reignite gaming magic
it prepares to unveil a hand-held 3-D device
the 3DS
allowing users to see 3-D images without the need for special glasses. It will be showcased at the E3 game trade show in June in Los Angeles before its commercial launch.

A hand-held device?
They should have gone with a Wii 3-D hardware unit that is backwards compatible with 2-D games also but this way I guess gives people a 3-D screen.
Who wants a 3" 3-D image? I guess the tweens...
I guess Nintendo will always be behind Microsoft and Sony with the next console...

All I can say is, I prefer 1st person perspective in racing games.

I hate 1st person in racing games. Because there is no sense of seat of the pants momentum or inertia, I can hardly tell which way the car is going or how much space on the road it's taking up unless I have a rear view to see how the car is reacting to my inputs.

On the other hand, I much prefer 1st person shooters when they give me the option between 1st and 3rd person.
