Mexico actually does produce a fair amount of media... Though foreign films in general seem to be on a upswing when it comes to their formerly facepalm-worthy production values. They now look up to par visually and I've been noticing that they are now making more genre films instead of all those BORING dramas and weird avant-garde crap.
I bet it's the widespread availability of computer software that was once Hollywood-only is the reason for the increase in foreign genre media. Personally, I enjoy it. Let The Right One In and Pan's Labyrinth were some of the more memorable films I've seen in recent years.
Funny thing... I didn't even need the subtitles for that too much.
La película mira futurista, pero no es como las otras películas extranjeras que me gustan (prefiero más la fantasía y el sobrenatural). Esta es más como una película de suspenso futurista.
(P.S. I love Desi's Cuban accent! Best parts of the show were when he's saying things like "physiachiatrist", "dunt", "splain" or telling the Spanglish version of Little Red Riding Hood complete with "tortillas, frijoles y vino". LMAO.
I really love the Rioplatense dialect, too. The Lls and Ys pronounced as Js are awesome. Se-boy-jah! Ey-jah! Ah-ma-ree-joh! It's just so fun to say. The Vos form was fun to learn down in Buenos Aires as well. Not to mention el bife de lomo, el mate, los ñoquis y chau.)
