The January Hatsu Basho starts on the 11th of Jan. next week and for any of you who watch sumo this may
be the one where history gets made.
I am referring to Yokozuna Hakuho's (a Mongolian) grab at the most basho (tournament) wins in history.
Beating the all time record of, now deceased, Taiho; Japanese wrestler from way back in the 70's.
I will certainly be watching! He's still young and has six chances this year alone to break the record...
baring any misfortunes of course. I get the strange feeling, though, that many Japanese will be secretly lamenting
Taiho's dethronement form the all time record.
