The USS Planck, destroyed in "Children of the Storm"

EDIT: Oh wait, that's the 2012 one. Whoops.

Err, no, the "triangle ship" shown on that (placeholder?) 2013 cover is the Altair, designed by Drexler & Okuda. It's on p. 117 of the Ships of the Line compilation book.

Indeed, and the image was first published in the 2007 Ships of the Line calendar. The Altair has an interesting history; it was originally a proposal for the design of Voyager, and bounced around for a while until it was suggested for the Enterprise-J, and was then used for engineering hull of the alternative Enterprise-J seen on the Ships of the Line book cover.

Not sure about the finality of the 2013 calendar images yet, Doug Drexler and Mark Rademaker have both mentioned making new images. But Drexler also mentioned the publisher suggesting a best-of edition to cover this transition period between publishers. So hopefully not final, if it is, maybe it's a mix of old and new.

I'm still trying to pick up a copy of the 2012 calendar. It's going for nearly £100 on amazon!
