2013 is DS9's 20th Anniversary...

... and seeing as the setting is pretty much "broken" and just seems to be set up for explanations / resolutions (as of Zero Sum Game), what I (personally, not representing anyone other than myself) want to see from Pocket Books is a Duology / Trilogy in the spirit of VOY's Full Circle / Unworthy, to :

(a) fill in the blanks of 2377 - 2382, including the fates of several characters like
Kira, Vaughn, Odo and Taran'atar

-and-

(b) tell the story of the LONG-simmering Ascendant storyline

this, of course, is assuming these threads are not dealt with in Rough Beasts of Empire :techman:

I'm with you there. I'm really hoping we get more than just brief explanation in a post Typhon Pact book, these stories really need to be resolved in depth.

I'd also like to see a book along the lines of TNG The Continuing Mission that came out for that 20th anniversery. Not holding my breath, though.

Agreed...Though, it seems DS9 has been relegated to just a part of multi-series crossovers for now.

Amen...amen...and AMEN!!!

FILL IN THE BLANKS, POCKET!!!

I would certainly like to see a event of some kind to celebrate the anniversary. A trilogy or big trade might be good....

I just remembered that Pocket hasn't announced any of next years TBPs, and this seems like something that would work perfect as one or more trades.

^But it does culminate with a TNG/DS9 crossover.

And no, they're not holding it for any special event. As with all the e-books awaiting trade publication, it's simply a matter of waiting until there's a gap to be filled in the schedule.

I just can't believe we're closing in on 20 years, damn I'm gettin' old!

Tell me about it. I was only 23 (an age which seems VERY young, naive, and foolish to me now) when DS9 came out, but, ironically, I remember feeling old at the time!

Akshurley, they could do it as a 'Tales of the Domonion War \ Captains Table \ Myriad Universes' style book with several short stories covering a few of the years. DS9 even weaved in and out its series with Prophecy and Change for a previous anniversary, so it would be nice to see the missing years filled in.

Of course, I'd enjoy a few novels to fill the gaps, but hey, short story collection will do fine by me...

I keep saying this, I fully expect a 'gap-filling' anthology to cover the time skip between Soul Key and Rough Beasts to be produced for DS9's twentieth. And I repeat this message just about every time the subject comes up, hoping that Pocket will take it to heart.

Not that we'll know for another year, though, since we don't even have the 2012 schedule out. Gotta get through that before we can worry about the 2013 books.

Margaret Clark often mentioned that as a possibility (well, not specifically for the anniversary, but just the general idea of an anthology) back when the five-year jump was first announced. Since she's not editing the line anymore, though, who can say?

^Well, frankly, with all due respect to the current editors...I see no reason why they wouldn't want to fill in the gaps.

I think it should say editor, as it's only one at the moment as far as I know.

I'm sure there could be reasons.

And there's certainly no reason why it has to be done in an anthology format, as Margaret seems to have planned. The gaps could also be filled by flashbacks within novels playing after the gap for example.
