Hahaha... oh my.
Given this is the same team of writer/director that brought us 10,000 BC I think I'll give it a pass
Now
that gives me pause. I didn't know he was the guy responsible for that crapfest.
Also
Stargate,
Independence Day,
Godzilla, and
The Day After Tomorrow.
My issue was that this film was written by the same pair who did
10,000BC (Roland Emmerich, Director/Writer & Harold Kloser, writer). I'm one of those guys who thinks that a good film starts with the script. If the script for this is up to the standards of
10,000BC no matter what destruction you throw up onto the screen, you're kinda doomed.
And, for me, putting up the list of Emmerichs other "spectacle" films doesn't really help in selling it to me either. 1 pretty fair film, followed by flag-waving junk, a horror-show of epic proportions and a snooze-fest just isn't going to get my butt in the cinema seat for The-End-Of-The-America-TM part 4.
Emmerich is one of the few action directors out there who can make the destruction of the world so utterly lifeless and dull.
And for all the daftness seen in his past films, watching those waves sweep over the Himalayas...

Kinda makes Godzilla credible.
Then again, give the guy credit where credit is due. The cannonball taking off the English soldiers' head in
The Patriot was inspired
Hugo - I think we've hit a critical desalinization point.
