2008--What Didn't Come Out This Year

So, we all famously know that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Star Trek didn't come out as promised, but what else was supposed to drop in 2008 and but didn't that has you disappointed?

Three things come to mind for me:

1) The Time Traveler's Wife. We saw the pictures of Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana and was told it'd be a Christmas release but now it's in 2009 limbo.

2) Dr. Dre's final album. It was due out in June. He releases an album a decade and he's about due (Chronic 2001 actually came out in 1999 and gave the world Eminem).

3) The Solomon Key. Watching the Angels & Demons trailer, I thought, "weren't we supposed to get the next Langdon adventure in late 2008?" Don't know what happened, probably had to change some things because the plot sounded very similiar to National Treasure.

*Sits waiting for the first "wit" to say "A new Indiana Jones film"*

You're getting predictable, strange little people inside my computer.

Fanboys is scheduled for early next year. I wonder what's going on with the Time Traveler's wife. I really want to see it.

I've heard that this release date for Fanboys is definitive, but I was thinking that at this time last year. I'll believe it when I see the end credits roll

Time Traveler's Wife was the first thing that came to my mind too, as last I heard it was being released at Christmas, then...nothing. Then again, I'm fairly pessimistic about a film adaptation, so my world was not shattered when the 25th came and went without it. :p

2) Dr. Dre's final album. It was due out in June. He releases an album a decade and he's about due (Chronic 2001 actually came out in 1999 and gave the world Eminem).

Dr. Dre would respond
"Motherfucker, I'm Dre - I don't need your respect
I don't need to make another album, bitch, I don't gotta do shit
I do it because I want to not to stay in the game
Fuck the fame, I'm still stayin the same, lil' bitch!"

But really, that "final album" thing is a hip-hop cliche, if not a music cliche in general.

Possession. The latest uninspired, braindead, PG-13 Sarah Michelle Gellar horror flick. I think it was originally supposed to come out in 2007, then had several 2008 dates. It's scheduled for this month. Tells you how good it is. They probably won't even screen it for critics.

The film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's The Road. It only needs to be 1% as good as the book to be 100% better than any other film.
