What was your favorite line up of Stooges. It surprised me that once there were 4, though at the time they weren't really the 3 Stooges yet.

Mine is the Classic line up of Moe, Curly and Larry. Curly just can't be beat. That he had so many health health problems and eventually died of a stroke, makes me want to root for him more now, even though he is long gone. What is your favorite line up?

My second question, is that I've heard the Stooges are much more popular with guys than girls. Is this true? If so, why do you gals not the Stooges. If you do like them, say soi and why please.

In all there were 8 Stooges:
Ted Healy
Moe Howard
Larry Fine
Curly Howard
Shemp Howard
Joe Besser
Joe "Curly Joe" DeRita
Emil Sitka Who was in movies with Moe, Larry, Curly, Joe and Curly Joe and was intended to take Larry's place in the line up, but it never happened.

I listed the line ups, please choose one and say why.

So far 3/3 for Moe, Larry & Curly. Curly was so much more naturally funny than anyone else on the planet ever was, or will be.

I have the surviving MGM shorts with Ted. A lot of people don't "like" Ted, but without him, we wouldn't even have the Three Stooges
and I think he was just a more classic vaudeville straight man than most people are used to.

Every girlfriend I ever had disliked them.

In one episode of Bones, Nigel Murry states "there were actually 6 men known as the Three Stooges", which is technically correct.

It was always "Ted Healy & his Stooges" or some other name, but never "Three" Stooges and you're right, Emil never did become a Stooge.

I think, if the times were very different, Dudley Dickerson would have made a better Stooge than either Joe or Curly Joe.

There are only Larry, Moe and Curly. They're like the Holy Trinity of idiocy.

Larry, Moe and Curly. The others for some reason never really had that Stooges feel, even though they tried.

I thought it was Curly, Larry, and Moe. Any other arrangement of the names seems odd to me. Anyway, Larry, Moe & Curly got my vote.

My second question, is that I've heard the Stooges are much more popular with guys than girls. Is this true?

this seems to be the general consensus. i've only ever had one gf that liked the Stooges.

I voted Moe, Larry & Curly, but in my head, the proper order is Larry, Curly & Moe.

Never was a big Stooges fan. They're OK, and I wouldn't say I dislike them, but I much prefer verbal gags over the physical ones. I'm much more a fan of Abbott & Costello.

I would have to say Larry, Moe & Curly as the definitive Three Stooges. There are no others.

Another fact not everyone knows is, Shemp was a Stooge before Curly.

He was with Moe, Larry & Ted till around 1932/33, then quit the act and was replaced by the younger Howard brother.

Some of Shemp's Stooge work is pretty good, but by the time he returned, they were well into rehashing earlier "plots", so I think his reputation suffers a little bit from that.

For the serious Curly fans, I have a 3-part Curly Clipshow on youtube I edited from the newer, remastered Sony DVD sets.

I also have the MGM shorts on YT.

I thought there'd be a few who liked the Moe, Larry, Curly Joe line best. I liked it, just not as much as Moe, Larry, Curly.

Well you ladies, tell us: If you don't like the 3 Stooges, why don't you like them?

I went with the grain and voted Larry, Curly and, Moe. But I'm also fond of Curly Joe, and Shemp.
