It can absolutely be a cultural thing. For instance I didn't find Fawlty Towers funny as a kid, I just didn't get the British humor. Today it is one of my favorite shows of all time. That was after being exposed to several other British comedies and eventually giving Fawlty Towers another try.
I have to admit that as soon as I read about the upcoming musical episode, I cringed a little bit. I'm not a fan of musicals. But considering how well this show has been made so far, I trust that it will be in good taste, and will of course give it a shot.

But that makes sense. Especially Prodigy only being a few seasons. I kinda see it being similar to Picard in that Kate Mulgrew probably won't commit to more than a few years of doing this. Who knows though.
Gonna be honest, I'm not very thrilled mainly because I was hoping that the next show to be announced was going to be a spinoff of Picard. Considering the cutbacks happening at Paramount+, I can't see them announcing two new live action shows (assuming Starfleet Academy is live action). I really...
Considering they want each show to represent something different, and considering there isn't a show directed at young adults yet (maybe Lower Decks?), that's probably exactly what this is.
No real surprise, but it still made my day to see this being officially confirmed. At least we know there will be more than one live action Trek show in 2024 now. :techman:
