List Only! Last Star Trek Episode You Watched

DSC "Context is for Kings" and "The Voyage Home" (movies can count as episodes, no?).

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Very much this; Trek references, by themselves, are not inherently 'funny.' Trek humor works best for me when it comes organically from the characters rather than set-'em-up sitcom gags and deliberately bad or obnoxious behaviors.

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

    I can't stand Lower Decks.

Should current Trek drop the serialized format?

I prefer standalone stories with serializing elements; the most successful examples of that right now (IMO) are Deep Space Nine, Strange New Worlds and Prodigy. Discovery and Picard (particularly season 2) simply don't work; part of that is their 'Annual Armageddon' approach to serialization...

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I would certainly hope not, but events like January 6th could've easily gone another way if the mob were better organized or better armed. We're only one administration away from a reactionary leader who'll spark/incite another Civil War. I don't like the idea either (at all), but I can't deny...

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

But they did say that the Eugenics Wars and World War 3 have now happened in the 21st century in "Strange New Worlds" (S1.1). And thanks for the correction on Ares; it's only been about 24 years since I've seen it. ;)

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Or that "Strange New Worlds" clearly shows the Eugenics Wars & World War 3 happening later on in this century, not the 20th...

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Good points all around, but those were written when the 21st century wasn't quite as easy to visualize as it is today; usually Star Trek moves the goal posts, as it did by changing the Eugenics Wars into a 21st century ordeal ("Strange New Worlds" S1.1), otherwise Janeway and Chakotay should've...

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Thanks for not assuming I'm a troll; I'm new here, and I don't want to come off that way. Just legitimate criticisms. :) And for context, I liked PIC S1 (save for a few nits here and there). In fact, I kind of wish they'd ended the series with his getting the android body and living for an...

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Yes, but even within Star Trek's continuity, the first manned Mars missions didn't happen until the 2030s ("Ares One"). Europa is a lot further away than Mars, and the radiation shielding technology needed for a manned flight there is not even on the radar. Star Trek usually bends its...

Star Trek Prodigy - New Mission Logs

This show is just so much fun. If it's for kids? Well, then I'm a 56 year-old kid, because I love it.

Spoilers Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) - Full Spoiler & Review Thread

They offered vouchers, but the theater has really gone to seed. I used to go there a lot in pre pandemic days, and they used to have a lot of technical snafus like this. If and when I decide to return to theaters, I think I'll go to a better one. I only went to that one because it was the...

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

As a newbie, I just want to say that PIC season 2 was an absolute mess. Picard's family and his mother's struggle with mental illness were treated like fodder for a bad Gothic horror novel. Really getting tired of Brent Spiner playing the entire Soong family line; it's a gag that's long...

Spoilers Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) - Full Spoiler & Review Thread

I tried to see it yesterday; the IMAX system broke down. I went home. After the hassle of getting a refund, and the traffic to and from, I was immediately reminded of why I hadn't missed going to the movies for these past 22 months.
