The behavior of some of the 7 highlights the idea that Starfleet is only kinda-sorta-military. I can imagine they would have been given a reprimand and some sort of punishment by Kirk after he read the reports, but I'm not so sure about a full-on court martial. Starfleet personel questioning...

Agreed - Ames would have made a good Vulcan. A fourth season, assuming it could have had watchable scripts, would have been interesting if for nothing else the other guest stars that would have popped up.

Since (I think) the only Vulcans you see in the original series are aristocrats (so-to-speak), I wonder if working class Vulcans are as logical as they are (and they don't always seem that logical). I mean, we know the ideal Victorian was super straight-laced about sex ... and that there's also...

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Great costume and spaceship design, especially the Romulan ship. I loved them dressing the Romulan as a medieval knight - very realistic costuming for a serial from the period.
