    Less Discussed Star Powers

I would think that your citizenship defines you as a citizen of a particular nation, not of the United Federation of Planets. If your particular nation is a member of the UFP, then you would also be regarded as a citizen of the UFP. If your particular nation leaves or is expelled from the UFP...

    Less Discussed Star Powers

The Kzinti would never join the Federation. They might, however, consider allowing the Federation to join them temporarily. In the meantime, individual Kzinti outcasts might become Federation citizens for various reasons and even join Starfleet.

    Why is Kirk so revered???

It was precisely because Kirk was not a superhero that he earned our respect. True, he was a relatively young captain at 32 years old, but he worked hard through all ranks from Midshipman to Lieutenant, then quickly from there to Captain and eventually Admiral. He earned his rank not by...

    Less Discussed Star Powers

The Kzinti. The Kzinti fought and lost no less than four wars with Humans. The losses were devastating to the Kzinti because their population growth rate is very low compare to Humans. During the wars, some Kzinti ate Humans. By treaty, they can’t do that anymore, nor can they weaponize...

What's the difference between a starbase and a "deep space" station?

For sure, they did, at the start. And, most still depend on the supply chain rooted in planetary resources. The first starbases were planet-based facilities that enabled construction, maintenance, recruitment, and launch and recovery to space. Naturally, such facilities would come to include...

Why Didn't Starfleet Command Use Starfighters? | The Templin Institute

My take on these Star Trek “fighters” is that they are not really fighters. Disregarding the fighters of technologically inferior races, fighters of Starfleet and Klingon, Cardassian, and Dominion fleets are still very much multi-purpose craft commonly assigned the role of fighter in fleet...

What kind of new Gadgets do you think away teams could use?

True. Why are officers lifting anything at all? “Officers” must be another word for enlisted, aboard the Enterprise. Unless, it is the enlisted who have such devices as anti-grav devices because they need them, and officers can never seem to find an enlisted crewman when they need one.

What if the Star Trek universe knew about our timeline?

If their temporal authorities believed that information about their future had been leaked to us, thus altering the natural course of our timeline, such authorities might also take on the responsibility of attempting to correct our timeline. They might assign a temporal taskforce to explore the...

    How are sensor logs read?

Nice. It would be amazing if such technology were not abused. Imagine the implications of a technology that can make you see and hear whatever brainwave patterns conveyed.

    How are sensor logs read?

As an in-universe explanation, I would suggest that the numbers are representative of waveforms, particularly of the electromagnetic spectrum. The numerical format uses decimal numbers (1 to 9 and 0), spaces, dashes, and lines/paragraphs. These may be numerical representations of waveforms...

What's the difference between a starbase and a "deep space" station?

It may be that in common usage, “orbital station” refers to a space station within an atmosphere, but “orbital” has nothing against “deep space.” For example, the moon orbits the Earth. The Earth and moon orbit the sun. The Earth, moon, and sun orbit Sagittarius A*. These orbital bodies orbit...

What's the difference between a starbase and a "deep space" station?

That does not change the fact that Starbase [Whaterver] in the middle of space is still a deep space station, regardless of nomenclature. So the real question should be, Why would the Federation name a deep space station, “Starbase [Whatever]”? It could be that a number of deep space stations...

What's the difference between a starbase and a "deep space" station?

Yes, it orbited Bajor. It orbited Bajor outside of Bajor’s atmosphere, which locates it in outer space, which is why it was called a deep space station.

What ships SHOULD they have used in the Dominion War?

No. You're right. I just wanted to have a little more firepower along for the ride with the Derf class tender. I suppose I could have just used two warp-capable starships, but I imagined Derf missions being of the overworked and underpaid, as it were, and a fairly recluse, lone-style. I thought...

What's the difference between a starbase and a "deep space" station?

Except that the only way Deep Space 9 could no longer be considered a deep space station is if its orbit were relocated to within the reach of Bajor’s atmosphere. Of course, the Bajorans can call it whatever they want, as did the Cardassians. But, the Federation designated it a deep space...

What's the difference between a starbase and a "deep space" station?

A starbase is a port and support facility for starships. Starbases are planet-based and usually maintain a space station within orbit of the planet and within the extent of its atmosphere. A deep space station is a space station maintained in outer space; that is, outside of any atmosphere.

What ships SHOULD they have used in the Dominion War?

Yeah, it was. But I was much more of a child back then. The Fenlon did not have warp engines, so it had to be brought along by a warp capable ship, such as the Derf, and then it could serve as a sublight escort. Crazy.

What ships SHOULD they have used in the Dominion War?

True! I always imagined a Derf class warp tender with a Fenlon class monitor in tow as an escort wherever it went. Those were the days!

    Is Starfleet a military organization?

:) Note some of the context of the above quote: Of course, I am happy for anyone who is a true Star Trek fan and is happy with nearly all of its media. In reality, though, the status quo is never truly the status quo because it must always change. Almost all of these series and movies...
