Do we all love Lower Decks because we don't take it seriously???

What an intriguing monkey wrench of a statement! Although I'm having problems accepting the analogy in a strict sense, I certainly recognize a legitimacy to it. When I ask myself why I enjoy both V and LD so much, the answer is very much the same: they add that very essential human aspect...

Spoilers Star Trek: Lower Decks 2x07 - "Where Pleasant Fountains Lie"

That Ren Faire ship was magnificent, as someone already mentioned it's unfortunate they didn't milk it more, it definitively had some unused potential. And how can you not love Jeffrey Combs in the role of an evil computer? A solid 8/10 for me.

Do we all love Lower Decks because we don't take it seriously???

LD feels like a reward to all Trekkies for the many years of dedication we've invested in the Trek universe. One of the reasons for its success is the extreme attention to detail, which undoubtetly implies that the show's creators have a great deal of affection for Roddenberry's incarnations. I...

Spoilers Star Trek: Lower Decks 2x08 - "I, Excretus"

Not much to add to what has already been said, so I'll be brief: "I, Excretus" is a masterpiece of pure joy. <3

Spoilers Star Trek: Lower Decks 2x06 - "The Spy Humongous"

Gotta admit, those Pakleds are unexpectedly hilarious.

Spoilers Star Trek: Lower Decks 2x03 - "We'll Always Have Tom Paris"

No noticable weaknesses in this one. Loved the part in the Orion thief society and he Shax thing was brilliant as well. The idea of having Tom Paris visit the Cerritos was fun and skillfully executed. So far the first three episodes of S2 are of the same caliber as the best ones from S1. I hope...

Spoilers Star Trek: Lower Decks 2x01 - "Strange Energies"

I realize this episode has been out for a while, but as they say, better late than never. Anyway, after scimming through this thread I was shocked to see that in 18 pages, Stevens is only mentioned one time(!). Personally I found him to be one of the real high lights. Loved every second he was...

S5E22 'Children of Time' - This is why I can't stand time travel-bs

Apparently you also skipped what I wrote just before I mention the examples, namely: "Of course there is something called suspend of disbelief, but that only works if the rest of the picture contains elements of very high quality. ", as kkt points out on page 2 as well (thank you!). However...

S5E22 'Children of Time' - This is why I can't stand time travel-bs

In which case, they would just loop the colony story 'til their future incarnations return and reboot it ad infinitum. The story of the colony would therefore just exist the same way 200 years, every time. It would never have a future. Anyway, my point should be clear from the original post...

S5E22 'Children of Time' - This is why I can't stand time travel-bs

But why couldn't they exist? Plus, as I mentioned: With the same logic, if they didn't manage to escape wouldn't they just reboot the whole time sequence, still causing everybody to disappear, effectively creating a time loop? Or are they supposed to build a parallel, duplicate colony to the one...

S5E22 'Children of Time' - This is why I can't stand time travel-bs

I re-watched this yesterday. Sorry to say, but I was very disappointed. Here's why: I've mentioned many times before that I have a problem with time-travel episodes, because they are cheap plot devices to concoct whatever story you like without any regard to what has already been established...

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Yeah I know they spoke Klingon, but Kruge and his ship mates switched to english all the time. In TFF the Klingons spoke it exclusively, when in their own company.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Having heard about the negative reputation of this movie, I admittedly was hesitant to even give it a go. Even though I loved the first one and didn't really care much for the second, the fans opinions of The Final Frontier somehow got to me. Boy was that a mistake. Storywise, the film falls...

Reading the boards now, the post from December by the user "Looney" is actually referring to me, making a fuzz on the JMS News forum (the same as I'm doing here). E-Mailing goes through, but the response has taken many months so far.... Anyway, I guess I'll just have to wait. If any of you...

    The Ferengi Appreciation Thread

I apply many of the Rules of Acquisition in my daily life. And I often think about the Great Material Continuum. So there can be no doubt, that the writers NAILED it with their portrayal of the Ferengi in DS9.
