This was a very mediocre movie, and a bad Star Trek movie.
It had that "trying too much to be cool and relate to what we think younger audiences want" vibe that seems to be in all these mediocre to bad productions.
Some things to note:
A lot of contrivances. It was really nice of the Terrans to...
The season was a mixed bag for me.
I thought the Elves and Sauron plot was fine. But they clearly don't know what they are doing with Gandalf. A character discovering what we already know is not a good hook. The Numenoreans' political strife is also not very interesting.
One thing that did bug...
I was expecting a different ending. While real Jason was being split, his original family should have split too (a reality where Charlie got a blue car, for example). So all the extra Jasons can look for those variation realities, and I thought fake Jason will teach them how to find them.
I was expecting the body to fall off when the cart got stuck.
I had sympathy for alicent, but that is all gone when instead of comforting her son or daughter (son in-law or daughter in-law 🤦♂️), she instead went to fuck Cole.
I'm watching...
Just happened across it since I got a free Apple TV trial. There doesn't seem to be any buzz about it...
Didn't realize what the ending of episode 7 was about until I saw episode 8. Have to say that I didn't see that development coming
Saw it with my wife and we both loved it.
The very basic story is kind of similar to the first movie, but it mixes things up enough for it no to be very noticeable.
While Joy is still the "protagonist", the other (original) emotions get more to do here. which I like.
Ennui is the new emotion...
I think it was probably something like this:
Spock: *phones home*
Sarek: hello?
Spock: hello father
Sarek: hello son
Spock: *silence*
Sarek: *silence*
Spock: so... the half crew was turned to vegetables last week
Sarek: fascinating...
Spock: *silence*
Sarek: so... should I put your mother on the...
When Goggins' character was doing the photoshoot for Vault-tec, he asks one of the Vault-tec employees if the blue suit is radiation proof, getting a "yea... sure...." response.
I think he will put on the suit in a high radiation situation and it will be the reason he turns to a ghoul.
Maybe someone mentioned it before, but why would a Romulan scientist put a critical piece of information on Trill, part of the Federation and therefore enemy territory?
It would be cool if it was intentional: put different parts in Federation, Klingon and Romulan territory, to make it extra...
In 400 years, the aliens think Earth science will surpass their own. That is why they are sabotaging basic physics research and need the help of sympathetic humans. Cutting the travel time down makes the whole plot line irrelevant.
I'm gonna use spoiler code just in case
I read the first two...
Finally saw the whole season
I was a bit upset at first at the changes they did to the books' storyline. Like the ultra futuristic VR (the aliens don't share tech...). But then I realized they were doing a different take on the story, and it's just as valid.
This was a bit funny, since the show...
I went and tried to look at images of the Yamato and Odyssey bridge, but couldn't find a good view showing if there is a third seat. But this seems like the likely explanation.
So I've been wondering...
On the D, the ship's counselor is probably sitting next to the captain because she can sense emotions and it can be useful.
But on other Galaxy class ships, what is the purpose of the chair to the captain's left? Was is supposed to be used by a different bridge office...
I read the book a million years ago, so I didn't even notice most of the changes until people brought them up in this thread.
I think the focus on the religious angle worked, it made the movie into a tragedy: Paul trying to escape his fate, only to succumb to it.
Ar first I thought it was a bit...
It might be an unpopular opinion, but i thought the episode had some very interesting ideas: humanity turning it back on space exploration, thus using elderly astronauts. Referendum by everyone turning the light on or off. The doctor letting humanity make their own decisions/mistakes.
But... it...
