Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Welp, I'm pretty excited now after that trailer.

Fans suggest a Cardassian series with Garak in the lead!

Andrew Robinson has responded with an enthusiastic "yes" every time he's asked if he'd like to return to the role, and has said so as recently as last month at a GalaxyCon virtual panel. He definitely wouldn't be a barrier to bringing the character back. From an interview with TrekMovie.com...

History Channel Sets 8-Part Star Trek Docuseries

This seems like the most logical breakdown of episodes/phases of Trek history to me. At any rate, I'm excited! It would be cool to see some attention given to Trek zine culture and people like John and Bjo Trimble, Jacqueline Lichtenberg, Jean Lorrah and all the others who helped keep fandom...

I second crookeddy's suggestion of The Criterion Channel and also recommend The Film Detective. Both have a robust selection of classic films.

He also knifes a guy in the neck (presumably killing him) in either "The Dogs of War" or "What You Leave Behind" but my memory is foggy on which episode it is. Though I agree with Bad Thoughts: the killing we do see is usually practical or duty-based. "Empok Nor" is the big exception.

First character images from Prodigy released on Twitter

I'm not wild about the CG animation style but I like that the main cast appears to be entirely alien.

    My DS9 Rewatch Odyssey

"The Wire" is one of my favorite DS9 episodes. It delivers on drama, intrigue and suspense, it's got a hell of a tour de force performance from Robinson (possibly a career best?), it marks a major turning point in Garak and Bashir's complicated friendship (and reads like a live-action...

    My DS9 Rewatch Odyssey

Something I find interesting is that the one throughline in each of the three stories Garak tells Bashir is that they all end with him committing the ultimate Cardassian taboo: putting his needs and feelings above that of Cardassia's. Given what we know about Garak and how he operates, it's more...

    HBO Max Streaming Service Thread

We've already gotten plenty of cheese in the form of the previous two films, so I'm looking forward to something more serious in tone (though hopefully with no shortage of over-the-top action).

New red band trailer for Mortal Kombat, hitting theaters and HBO Max on April 16: I didn't think anything could compel me to care about the MK franchise again, least of all another movie, but I'd be lying if I said this trailer doesn't have me hyped.

    My DS9 Rewatch Odyssey

Bareil is kind of a wet noodle in terms of personality, but something to consider with respect to his relationship with Kira that no one has touched on yet is his status as a spiritual leader. Kira is a devout follower of the Prophets and Bareil's theological praxis and approach to the Bajoran...

Cruella - 70's Era Cruella de Vil Prequel Starring Emma Stone

My first thought after watching the trailer was that it seems like they're going for a Jokerized take on the character, which is kind of hilarious to me as a concept. At any rate, I love Emma Stone and a good villain origin story. The trailer has my interest piqued.

    2021 books announced

A few months ago, the Pod Directive featured a roundtable discussion with Tawny Newsome, Michelle Hurd, Angelica Jade Bastién and Kendra Jame‪s‬. The entire discussion is really interesting and often quite funny, but there's a sobering tangent about the racism they've encountered in the form of...
