Yeah, when I first saw the episode and Tom brushed off O'brien that way I was wondering if something happened in an episode of TNG that I'd missed lol. Then as you say, the real reason was revealed shortly after.
EPIPHANY ENGINE is a comic book crossover event between 40 plus independent publishers and/or creators (including yours truly)! The kickstarter for this graphic novel launched today, any support would be appreciated
Cover by ChrisCross (one of several available)
I was totally clueless. Granted, I haven't watched a ton of TOS, and most that I have watched was as a little kid pre internet. That's two actors with missing fingers the interwebs has put me on to (the other being Walter Jones from Power Rangers). Never let it be said Gore's invention was good...
Maybe I'm reading something into what you wrote that isn't there. You aren't saying that those shows visited Earth during the same calender years of production are you? Because if so, when did TNG or DS9 visit 1990's Earth (and late 80s for TNG)?
As others have said, it was kind of surprising to me that they wrapped up Rukiya's story in the first season. I had a pet theory (based on nothing lol) that the reason M'benga eventually leaves the Enterprise is because they come across some species with the means to help her, and he goes to...
I'd say more "or something" than "after they reached 18". Yoda said Luke was too old in ESB. But I definitely didn't think they started as young as they did. When Mace said little Anakin was too old, I was like
Outward appearance doesn't mean much with these alien species, though. Spock physically appeared to age right along with the rest of TOS Enterprise crew. Yet basically a century later he's hanging with Picard and crew looking relatively the same.
Not really seeing romance between any of the main characters. Other than Chapel flirting with Spock, that is. If/when they go there, I hope the relationships will be with guest stars. Uhura (for example) goes on a date with some day player portraying an ensign, or Pike's f-buddy fellow captain...
Seems to me he's doing a particular voice for the character. In the clip posted earlier in this thread and a couple other clips I've seen of Babs talking, he doesn't sound like he sounds on the show, and is easier to understand (to me).
Don't know which episode it is, but I recall Picard speaking negatively about genetic engineering. Don't remember if it was a captain's log or if he was talking to someone.
M'Benga says "I received your orders, Captain" to Pike after they hug and greet. We didn't see Pike give any orders, so it's safe to assume some time has passed between the "Let's go see the doctor" scene and this one. But I agree it could've been handled better.
It's cool that you have your own head cannon regarding how people from her planet age, but clearly the writers went in their own direction. And why would it be mentioned again? We haven't seen 25th century Guinan since then. And even if we do see her next episode, it won't need to mentioned...
