Have you seen all seven seasons? Your first question is answered later in the show.
Second question. They didn't necessarily take the same course as real voyager and would not have met the same aliens. A tiny course correction would lead them along a whole different route with different...
I think Voyager is very underrated. It has some of the best characters, the best character development, and interesting compelling stories. Voyager often gets heavily criticized for certain things but TNG and DS9 did those same things and everybody loves it.
My favorite was the one with Mudd and the time jumping. I feel like it was the most "trek" episode and it was also just fun. I love whenever trek does time travel

But you are MUCH MUCH more likely to be in a car crash than in a plane crash. The only reason plane crashes are big news is because of how rare they are.

You know what, personally I don't care if it makes scientific sense or not. It's a science fiction show for entertainment. If I want scientific accuracy I will watch a documentary.
I think transporters in Trek are super safe. Accidents have happened but it is a tiny percentage compared to how many transports there are overall. It's like driving a car. Usually safe, but there are accidents.
Not a skippable episode for me, i enjoy this one. This is a great episode that shows that they do struggle for supples even if we don't see it every episode. And we do get some nice follow up later on
