What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

United franchise of anything that may remotely resemble that Trek thing. Even in the mid 60's, how many of those futuristic studio creations actually were a first on Star Trek?

How much interest is there in "The God Thing" being completed and released?

Long long time ago, back when fan film creators were allowed to speak what was on their minds and share concepts without getting their eyes poked out, Patty Wright sent me a seven or eight page? incomplete script. Patty used to write back and forth with Walter Koenig and my dear friend Amy Beth...

Why is toxic fandom destroying everything?

I am my own second largest critic, the wife as always is number one. Everyone else has to take a number. As a story writer, I was never a fan of Trek past TOS and always considered Fan films that simply retell a trek episode as lazy even though I understand the reasons for doing so. The few...

Instead of many new shows, would TV movies be a better choice for Star Trek?

Something I played with once. I always wanted to write a story in the Trek universe that would follow the adventures of either a Klingon or Romulan crew. I mean, how many times can we relive the adventures of the Federation? I'm not talking about fan films, I'm talking about Paramount, a...

CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar 2 - Electric Boogaloo-Fanboys gone WILD-too many hyphens

I think everyone making fan films turns out a project that simply fails. It's just that I don't hear them brag about it for eight frigging years. Let it go..... let it go! Besides that, if nobody can hear you scream in space, do you really expect warp engines to make different sounds? On...

Instead of many new shows, would TV movies be a better choice for Star Trek?

You could write, storyboard the most awesome space adventure EVER, take it to the studio, they love it and have you sign over the rights so they can make your adventure come true. Next week they call you up and explain they are going to add a 1960's Batman theme and captain Zorro to it. Just to...

Instead of many new shows, would TV movies be a better choice for Star Trek?

My daughters think Kelsey Grammer was the coolest thing since Spock. What did he get? 40 seconds in the captains chair and peaked the interest of millions of young future Trek fans. Paramount didn't care.. Sad because that's a whole plot line in itself. Ship returns from the past and shows Star...

Instead of many new shows, would TV movies be a better choice for Star Trek?

When you attempt to be all things to all people, you risk becoming nothing to nobody. After a while for me personally it became like, "Oh another new Trek reliving some old trek" That's a Paramount problem. They call it Star Trek and are afraid to work outside of the box because fans will call...

Should we allow for AI-generated fiction writing?

Bones: Damit Jim, you can't sue a damn computer! Spock: Logically Doc one could sue another at any time Scotty: Aye but winning the suit is an entirely different matter. Kirk: Who said anything about needing to win, the action in itself becomes the means to an end. Scotty: Aye! A wonderful game...

Should we allow for AI-generated fiction writing?

That's along the lines I've considered. I started writing at 17, away from home in a small apartment living a rather bare bone existence. A note book and pencil was about the only entertainment I could afford. Forty years latter I shared some of those space adventure stories with a fan film...

Should we allow for AI-generated fiction writing?

So I asked my AI, "Which Star Trek Fan Studio produced the most productions? It answered "Axanar", listing several pages of articles where it was mentioned. For now I don't think we have a lot to worry about.
