    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

A very nice, and fitting wrap up of this tale, and a nice setup for what's to come, including Garrett's eventual rise to command. Loved the bit about Trujillo's liquor cabinet, and the upgrade's to Reykjavik's armaments and defensive capabilities. Looking forward to seeing her in action.

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

Good point. The handing over and back of the disruptor seemed quite symbolic of an ending and a new beginning, but you're right: we've not yet seen a fat lady singing. :p

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

What a great wrap-up of a fascinating and exciting story. Trujillo's visit to the wounded was some very powerful storytelling, as was the Romanii "surrender" and Glal's retirement announcement. I'll be sad to see him go, but well deserved. Plus, I won't be surprised to see the occasional...

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

Touching and beautifully written. It will be interesting to follow the developments with Titus Helvia.
  5. TrekkieMonster

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

A scorching and heart-wrenching battle scene, expertly drawn. And, what interesting developments with The Mother. I appreciate that, as Trujillo suggests, you have really not telegraphed where she might come down, which makes the anticipation of the ultimate outcome all the more intriguing and...

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

A nice dose of reality for our Romanii friends there. I look forward to seeing how Davula does in the hunt for the Augments.
  7. TrekkieMonster

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

I agree, the scene between Helvia and Cruscellio was very insightful and revealing. The willingness of the Augment cohort was an unexpected turn, and Trujillo is right to be suspicious. Will be interesting to see how that develops.

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

I absolutely love everything about that scene. Your insights into the ways a god-like being might experience existence and interact with mere mortals is fascinating. And the revelations about The Mother and/or whatever else is intervening in these events are intriguing. I look forward to your...
  9. TrekkieMonster

    Starship Reykjavík - The Blade

A beautiful coda to An Idiot's Guide to Gunboat Diplomacy.
  10. TrekkieMonster

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

So, now the cards are on the table. Will be interesting to see how the Romanii decide to proceed. I hadn't considered how the Romanii might be re-settled, or where. Trujillo make an interesting point. And, I'll be interested to see how Koh Yor fares, knowing they are likely flying into a trap.
  11. TrekkieMonster

Starship Reykjavík - Les Bottes Solitaires

Nicely done. And now I understand the meaning of the holocube in the most recent scene in Domum Soli. :bolian:
  12. TrekkieMonster

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

I liked both of these scenes very much. The revelations from the Romanii must have been hard-won. And I also like the idea of Klingons sending their young warriors to train with modern day Comanche. A very clever and original concept. I was happy to see Helvia get the chance to explain himself...
  13. TrekkieMonster

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

The scene between Curzon and Trujillo was beautifully written, and wonderfully developed and advanced both characters' personalities, and their relationship. If I may ask a process question, did you always intend Nandi to have this bias, or is it something you recognized had developed as you...

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

What a beautiful and impactful scene. Very, very nicely done.
  15. TrekkieMonster

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

Ah, of course. And if the Romanii elites are in on the plan it would certainly explain their sudden interest in acquiring large cargo vessles to evacuate certain "citizens". Sick sons-of-bitches, indeed. And, I can't help wondering whether whatever force brought this magnificant planet into...
  16. TrekkieMonster

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

Ummm ..., yeah, what he said. ;) But seriously, I agree wholeheartedly with these sentiments. And I'm enjoying the further developmetn of Helvia's character and personality.

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

Interesting developments, and love the task force name.
  18. TrekkieMonster

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

I loved the last 2 installments. The Gol's battle scene was very well done and had me on the edge of my seat. Likewise, the scene with Trujillo and Helvia was very compelling, albiet in a very different way. I always enjoy your character development. I also couldn't help but notice that the 2...

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

True, but to be honest, I was purposely trying not to think too much about it because I was looking forward to letting the story unfold naturally and surprise me; and, boy, did it. That said, in my partially formed scenario it could have been a "child Q", as has often been discussed vis-a-vis...

    Starship Reykjavík – Domum Soli

Wow, I was also wondering about something like the Q, but I was thinking more in the form of forcibly teraforming an existing planet, resulting in the current instability. Simply "Blinking" it into existence never would have occurred to me. Intriguing. :shifty:
