    Could Star Trek be Re-rebooted?

That doesn't make it a reboot. Prequels rarely do line up perfectly. ADF's Humanx Commonwealth prequels don't. The SW prequel trilogy doesn't. And that's ok, too. Then again, TOS doesn't line up perfectly with itself, either. And if that weren't ok, then why was there a TAS, that actually took...

Spoilers Star Trek: Lower Decks 5x01 – “Dos Cerritos”

Just watched it. Gave it a 9. Loved the blue/green thing. Perfect TAS callback.

    Could Star Trek be Re-rebooted?

Uh, they did. The Abramsverse was the result. I don't see anybody lining up to continue the Abramsverse, but we did get a whole series exploring the fallout from the incident that provided an in-universe basis for the reboot.

    Author Habits That Annoy You

Thanks, @Tosk Refusal to touch food with one's hands while eating (and attempting to eat something hard, dry, clean, like a breadstick, or a pretzel, or a cookie, or a cracker, with a knife and a fork) is illogical and impractical. As well as reminiscent of a memorably sarcastic reply to a...

Spoilers SNW: Toward the Night by James Swallow Review Thread

Tomorrow, between church and a matinee concert at Davies Hall, I'll poke my nose in, and see if Books Inc. (Opera Plaza, San Francisco) has a copy. If so, I'll pick it up later in my vacation.

So What Are you Reading?: Generations

Finished Broken Bow. Not as bad as its reputation. The only place where I thought DC was making fun of the script was the breadstick bit, and that actually is ridiculous.

    Author Habits That Annoy You

And I get the precise opposite vibe from DC's take on the scene: Archer's convinced that Phlox wants to one-up him, but they both know Chinese food is ubiquitous, especially in SF. And living one's entire life there doesn't mean he doesn't get around. I've lived in Fountain Valley, California...

    Author Habits That Annoy You

In other words, your threshold of "excessively purple" in prose is a very pale shade of lavender. I'm guessing you're not an ADF fan.

    Author Habits That Annoy You

Actually, he responds, in so many words, that he's lived in San Francisco his entire life, and then inwardly muses that there were Chinese restaurants "every third corner" there, but that Phlox "wanted to have something on him." I didn't get a sense of anybody in that conversation assuming that...

What's the worst non-canon decision in the history of Trek?

I've had letters published in the NMRA Magazine a number of times (probably at least once under its previous title of Scale Rails), and at least one in the Automobile Club of Southern California's Westways. Over a decade ago, I got published in one of the IBM Midrange trade magazines (I don't...

Will We Ever See a Trek Crossover...

Hmm. When I first saw the ads for the third Alien movie (the title of which can't be reproduced as styled here, because this board doesn't do superscripts), I read it as "Alien Cubed," and joked that it sounds like the title of a Borg movie. But of course, 1980s TrekLit already has a crossover...

So What Are you Reading?: Generations

I'm not quite 1/3 of the way into Broken Bow. Of course, the Humans are showing a lot of suspicion and outright bigotry against the Vulcans, but that's pretty much the nature of ENT s1. And of course, DC threw in a callback to an in-joke in Final Frontier ("Internally Metered Pulse Drive")...

Star Trek Generations novelization with original Kirk ending available anywhere in digital?

Or even just a new installment. The first eight installments of ADF's Star Trek Log series had white covers with an actual TAS scene (usually from an episode adapted in the volume, though there might have been an exception) reproduced on the front cover. Then, for the last two volumes...

Them? Naraht's gender is "orthomale type B-4A," and I think DD and/or AC established that his preferred pronouns are he-him. (And personally, I rather like the idea of hermaphrodites' preferred pronouns being s/he-hir.) ***** May 21 ***** Now 29 cantos into Paradiso, in the Divine Comedy...

Poll TOS #9: Triangle by Sondra Marshak and Mayrna Culbreath (42nd Anniversary)

Dunno if the "phoenix" books would qualify as "not the kind of fun the authors intended." I seem to recall lots of really confusing parts, and I don't mean confusing the way the whole "cat burglar" bit in Ford's How Much For Just the Planet is confusing.
