I get the point they were making with the receptionist not recognizing Picard, but it did seem weird. Especially since he just did a controversial interview that was presumably broadcast throughout the Federation.
Oh, for sure. I just think it's a bit of a problem when it's as noticeable as it is here. All stories need setting up. I just wish it felt a little more organic. It's like watching them make the sausage.
I gave it an 8. I liked it but didn't love it. It was VERY exposition-heavy, and the CSI scene was pretty silly. I love seeing advanced sci-fi tech, but that came off more like magic.
I got a strong Dr. Who vibe off of the scene depicting the synth uprising, but that's not necessarily a bad...
Of course. That's what is so absurd about this "debate". I never said it was the least popular or the worst. I merely said, while making a larger point, that it's not the most popular film in the franchise. I did not expect that to be taken as a controversial statement.
Oh, for the sake of Kahless will you give it a rest?
Literally the only thing I stated was that TMP isn't as popular as other Trek films. AND IT ISN'T.
You yourself placed it in the middle of the pack. You don't even agree with your own argument.
Spending page upon page and paragraph upon paragraph on a single handful of words that was only a small part of the original post and rejecting simple logic to the point of obtuseness is trolling. At least that's the only word I can use to describe it that won't get me banned.
You want proof...
Yeah, sure chief. I've "nullified" nothing because that was not remotely the main point of my original post. Again, you've zeroed in on this one minor thing and are trying to twist it into... what, exactly? I honestly don't see the point of why you are arguing this so vehemently.
And you do...
I know what "objectively" means. And I stand by my statement (which, I say again, was a very minor part of the original point I was making) that TMP is objectively less popular than other Trek films. It just is. But go on, keep harping on it and quoting pointless box office statistics at me...
Agreed wholeheartedly, and that's exactly the problem with the usual studio mindset of "going with what works". You get stuck in a rut of trying to recreate the things that were popular in the past (I'm looking at you, Star Wars) while ignoring the lesson that those past installments were the...
*sigh* I'm not talking about box office. I'm talking about overall popularity in the here and now and I'm not sure why you want to harp on this one thing and try to turn it into a debate. I said TMP is not as popular as other Trek films and it isn't. The fact that you rank it in the middle of...
