Everybody has things they believe or prefer that are out of step with everybody else. What is yours, with regards to Trek? I'm a long time fan and here are mine:
- I admire and respect Trek's overall positive message, but I also think it's incredibly corny. Humanity will completely destroy...
Why are we still having to say it? People are more upset with me than they are the casting director or the writers for giving a character a skill she can't possibly have. If I pointed out that Warwick Davis shouldn't portray an NBA player, nobody would bat an eye. But Tilly twice being portrayed...
My beard is fantastic. Come out of the basement and ask Mom. She knows.
I don't care what it was about, Tilly would've suffered cardiac arrest in 30 seconds. She's not running anywhere. Neither am I, but I'm not supposed to be a military officer.
I'm tempted to give this episode a 1 just because they want me to believe Tilly could run a race, much less win one. Not enough sci-fi in the world to explain that.
This episode was entertaining and had many fun moments. If one were going to do this crossover, this was probably the best way to do it. There are just certain things that don't sit right with me.
Maybe I'm an overserious stiff. I just think structure is good, especially for comedies. TOS was...
I honestly don't get it. These conglomerates can't seem to figure out what most people would call common sense. Cut your budget. That's how you make a profit. Not by throwing good money after bad. Nobody watches half the crap on these services, so why have it? Keep Trek, keep Yellowstone and the...
And many would call them the best seasons of a flawed show that couldn't find it's identity until it separated itself completely from the weight of continuity and nostalgia.
Except that's not at all what happened on Discovery in the 32nd century. If anything, the Federation was broken and...
My quibbles aside, I've found quite a bit to like about every Star Trek series. I'm talking about things that hurt me and things that I wouldn't do if I were in charge. But I'm not in charge so I get to rant about it on a message board.
That said, I would have started out this era of Trek with...
Not to me. A little goes a long way, but the constant fellating of old hits is a slippery slope. The more you do it, the more you draw attention to the fact that it's NOT connected by anything but a brand name.
Take this "Tomorrow" episode. As a Space Seed and TWOK fan, I loathe everytime they...
No.
The multiverse quite literally a tool (which is inherently only as effective as its user) and frankly the only one that could work for the most fans at this point.
If you're going to keep mining the past, you can't keep going SAME TIMELINE SAME TIMELINE! I mean you can, but you...
I absolutely loathe the intentional breaking and distorting of continuity for no other reason than they have this bug up their ass about aligning Trek with reality. "WELL GORSH, DEM EUGENICS WARZ AIN'T HAPPEN IN THE 90'S SO WHATTA WE DO?!" Nothing, you idiot writers. Star Trek is not our future...
No no no no.
Heaven help us all.
Leave well enough alone.
Life isn't neat and tidy. Things end badly. We are sometimes disappointed. We grow, we move on. At some point they need to stop going back to the well over and over, dragging out fictional corpses, aping TWOK. Enough. The fan service...
A step way way way too far.
I'm a little disappointed they created a half-ass new "Data". Just let a character die and stay dead. It's OK. The world won't end. Can we do that?
Seven's changes or lack thereof are totally plausible and even likely given her character. They've done a good job of with her. Seven on VOY was a basically a child. This is the adult version.
One question: does she still have to regenerate at night?
Beverly raised a kid without a father because she had no choice. She HAD a choice this time and chose to cut Picard out. I don't buy it. Space is dangerous. So what? Go live in a hole somewhere. Why didn't she take Wes and go hide? Funny thing is, she's not hiding, she's letting him get in worse...
