Wow... TIL. I didn't know this. Overall I think the Destiny timeline (is that what we're going to call this TrekLit era?) was a larger crisis. Nothing like the Borg invasion / war had ever hit the Federation and caused such devastation.

I actually liked the uniforms we saw in the 2385 flashback better than the current ones.

New Frontier got me into TrekLit proper, and will always hold a special place in my heart. I was interested in trying out New Earth but the reviews kept me away...

I wouldn't call Destiny violent, though. It's epic, and yes there is swath of destruction as the Borg lay into the Federation proper, but I wouldn't say it's violent. I agree, Fallen Heroes fits that mold better, as does Resistance. The former is brutal as our heroes are cut down by an...

Well... I guess I'll be that guy. :( Considering Swallow's Synthesis is one of my favorite Trek novels, I'm happy to see him continuing the series. But the entire Strange New Worlds format was the draw for me, personally. I'm not terribly interested in seeing Titan become like TNG, running...

After the Fall. I *loved* NF, and Stone and Anvil is my favorite entry (I think the ending is just beautiful)... but damn, AtF lost me on the series, and everything I've read after has felt downright stale and unfunny.

Part of the problem is that, IIRC, in-novel it's been three years since Fallen Gods. It was a weird plot point to leave dangling given where the series goes next.

But when will then be now?

Haha true. But for "established" characters it seems a little trickier to stick. I mean, if Trip, Data, and Janeway have all died and been "resurrected" (through various plot twists, changes, etc.), then it's a little easier to believe something like Riker being an admiral is only a short-term...

I think Riker will wind up stepping back into the command chair. I don't see the status quo getting disrupted.

It's my favorite too, and while I'd miss Riker without it, I'd give it a chance *if* it continues its "Strange New Worlds" format.
