What is happening with Star Trek literature?

I legit logged onto the site for the first time in a hot minute, saw the new look, saw this thread title, and thought it was about the site re-design. I like it though... 🤔

Spoilers Coda: Book 1: Moments Asunder by Dayton Ward Review Thread

Current pet theory: this will come up during The Ashes of Tomorrow.

Spoilers Coda: Book 1: Moments Asunder by Dayton Ward Review Thread

I thought the same. I fully expect the new DS9 to get nuked along with the Prophets during the remainder of the trilogy.

Spoilers Coda: Book 1: Moments Asunder by Dayton Ward Review Thread

Reading your earlier comment in the thread, and having read the book last night... yeah, I was looking for this comment. I also got Crisis on Infinite Earths vibes, which is funny that someone else mentioned that (the original, source comic, not whatever was on TV). Great opening to the...

Spoilers Borg Invasion vs. Romulan Supernova

Wow... TIL. I didn't know this. Overall I think the Destiny timeline (is that what we're going to call this TrekLit era?) was a larger crisis. Nothing like the Borg invasion / war had ever hit the Federation and caused such devastation.

Poll What do you think of the Starfleet uniforms in Star Trek: Picard?

I actually liked the uniforms we saw in the 2385 flashback better than the current ones.

New Frontier book series and New Earth. Anyone else like them?

New Frontier got me into TrekLit proper, and will always hold a special place in my heart. I was interested in trying out New Earth but the reviews kept me away...

Spoilers Prey: Book 3: The Hall of Heroes by John Jackson Miller Review Thread

How much does the Titan crew feature in this trilogy? And in which books?

    Most Violent Trek Novel?

I wouldn't call Destiny violent, though. It's epic, and yes there is swath of destruction as the Borg lay into the Federation proper, but I wouldn't say it's violent. I agree, Fallen Heroes fits that mold better, as does Resistance. The former is brutal as our heroes are cut down by an...

Some news on the new Titan novel, spoilery ofcourse.....

Thank you very much for the clarification. Again, no offense was meant, and you've alleviated some of my concerns.

Some news on the new Titan novel, spoilery ofcourse.....

Well... I guess I'll be that guy. :( Considering Swallow's Synthesis is one of my favorite Trek novels, I'm happy to see him continuing the series. But the entire Strange New Worlds format was the draw for me, personally. I'm not terribly interested in seeing Titan become like TNG, running...

    Absent Enemies blurb

True. Maybe I'm just feeling overly skeptical with regards to that for no rational reason. Regardless... I'm buying it. lol

    Absent Enemies blurb

Looks like Titan isn't rushing back to the Strange New Worlds format...

When did New Frontier "Jump the Shark"?

After the Fall. I *loved* NF, and Stone and Anvil is my favorite entry (I think the ending is just beautiful)... but damn, AtF lost me on the series, and everything I've read after has felt downright stale and unfunny.

I hate loose ends... (The Fall & Titan SPOILERS)

Part of the problem is that, IIRC, in-novel it's been three years since Fallen Gods. It was a weird plot point to leave dangling given where the series goes next.

But when will then be now?

Major spoilers from upcoming Fall novels.

Haha true. But for "established" characters it seems a little trickier to stick. I mean, if Trip, Data, and Janeway have all died and been "resurrected" (through various plot twists, changes, etc.), then it's a little easier to believe something like Riker being an admiral is only a short-term...

Major spoilers from upcoming Fall novels.

I think Riker will wind up stepping back into the command chair. I don't see the status quo getting disrupted.

Major spoilers from upcoming Fall novels.

It's my favorite too, and while I'd miss Riker without it, I'd give it a chance *if* it continues its "Strange New Worlds" format.
