Gave it a below average but stopped reading at page 50. I've read her previous books and found I always skipped or glazed over a lot of the stuff and found myself doing it again with this book. It's slow and plodding with a lot of character internalization which sacrifices the storys pace. I...
Now that Picard and Discovery are out I guess those are canon? the newer books seemed geared for those series.
I guess all those years of trek books are kinda moot now right?
Articles of the Federation. Because it was refreshing to read star trek from a non star fleet perspective and introduces a great character.
The Destiny Trilogy. Because galactic events massively change in trek lore, it has all the crews and is the defining moment in trek literature.
I finished it and rated it average.
It was 80% a tng episode and the remaining 20% was dealing with the section 31 aftermath. And neither plot lines were connected in any remarkable way. The section 31 plot was the more interesting one. The tng plot was predictable and tedious at points. Like...
I'm 50 pages in and I'm struggling with this. So far it's all about dealing with interpersonal problems and a lot of wheel spinning that goes nowhere.
As soon as I saw that the book was 256 pages long I knew it was going to be one of those "just get it done" trek books. From what I've read it...
I gave it a below average. So disapointing. I was looking forward to reading this. All the plotlines were weak and two of them were meaningless. I guess having a recent trek book explain section 31s downfall and history took the wind out of the books sails.
Never knew this trilogy existed. Also whoever did the cover art for the book should hang their head in shame, that's just humiliating. Awful. Pocket books is a profesional publushing company right? lol.
:EDIT: wait book 2's cover page ... omg.
Good job!. I just finished it and gave it an above average.
Very well paced. It felt quick and snappy, even if it is a novella. The characters and the story didn't drag.
I really enjoy reading aspects of the federation that always aren't Starfleet and human-centric. Out of all the Trek...
I gave it an average.
I only read half of it because it was uninteresting. I may finish it sometime, maybe. That's how uninteresting it is and for the last years I've gobbled up every newly released Trek book. Lang is a competent author, he's an ok writer no complaints but man, couldn't he have...
Just finished reading it. Gave it an above average.
Overall it was pretty good. I could've gone without all the relationship melodrama (Phlox and his family, Sato/Kimura, Sam/Valerie and to a lesser extent Trip/T'Pol and Archer/Danni). Oh and less Mayweather ... I can't stand that character...
I just finished it and rated it an above average. I always enjoy Kirstens work. It's always a fast enjoyable read and I never get bored or find myself skipping parts.
With that said it felt too emotional, and not in a good way. Its like almost everyone had these emotional problems they had to...
