Godzilla, Kong, Gamera & Co.: The Kaiju Mega-Thread

Thank you so much for the info, Christopher—I’ll check it out!

Godzilla, Kong, Gamera & Co.: The Kaiju Mega-Thread

I’ve really been enjoying the Godzilla channel on Pluto TV. I grew up with dubbed children’s matinee versions of the later Showa era, so Godzilla as an outright hero and “friend of man” as he is referred to in Godzilla vs the Smog Monster is what I am most familiar with. I have never seen...

Godzilla, Kong, Gamera & Co.: The Kaiju Mega-Thread

    It is officially Godzilla Day.

Godzilla, Kong, Gamera & Co.: The Kaiju Mega-Thread

The Jet Jaguar short is good too, and uses the Godzilla suit from Final Wars.

    Superman

When I watch the George Reeves Superman show, I like to imagine that Lois, Jimmy, and Perry know his secret but are just humoring him.

    Superman

I think there is a lot of good story potential to be mined in showing the Clark\Superman dynamic, and how Lois learns and responds to his secret.

DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

The “Martha” line doesn’t work as well as it could because just prior to it, Batfleck says to Clark, “Did your parents teach you that you were special? Mine taught me something else dying in an alley.” Or something to that effect. I think the idea of Batman considering Superman as an utterly...

    Space 1999!!!

As a kid I thought it would have made more sense if some sort of warp drive effect was being tested on the moon, and that could have explained why the moon could encounter multiple planets.

DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Don’t you know, M’rk, son of Mogh, that comic book characters are serious business and only for adults and telling adult stories. How dare they be fun or even, gasp, for all ages! :)

DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Collyer had a fantastic voice—I loved hearing him vocally switch from Kent to Superman in the iconic line: “This looks like a job…for Superman!”

DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Oh I’m not worried, I’m just genuinely interested in understanding a very different viewpoint than my own.

DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

All we can hope for, from a movie at least, is that we enjoy it. I hope Gunn’s Superman is enjoyable and catches on. I don’t get the desire for expectations to be so subverted that the general audience rejects the product, though. For example, I am not a fan of the Masters of the Universe, so...

Spoilers The Flash (2023) -Review and Discussion Thread

I think Miller played Barry Allen as the character was written, and probably did reasonably well by that standard. I strongly disliked how the character was written so I really didn’t enjoy the performance, especially that of younger Barry.

DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

I think sometimes people overlook how strong the acting was on the Batman animated series, especially its initial incarnation. Sorkin was excellent in the role, and largely responsible for the character’s breakthrough into the cultural consciousness. May she rest in peace.

DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

I think I read somewhere that the studio wanted Cavill to film a cameo for one of there movies, and for that cameo to count as one of his contracted appearances. Cavill refused, wanting something more substantial as a part of fulfilling his contract. If this is the case, I don’t blame Cavill for...

DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

I can’t wait to see Krypto in the new Superman movie! Leaning in to the more fantastical elements of Superman lore, such as Krypto, Bizarro World, Kandor, the Legion, etc, would be a great way to separate this new version from all the previous versions.

I think the ‘curse’ refers to the idea that the third movie in a series tends to see a drop off in quality.

DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

While I generally agree with the USA Today list, especially the ranking of the top three movies, I think the lack of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is its biggest oversight. To my mind, Mask of the Phantasm is to date the very best depiction of Batman on screen and easily stands alongside Batman...

DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Iron Man was ranked #35. As to Dick Tracy and Flash Gordon, I suspect they were included due to their comic strip origins. Depending upon how you define ‘superhero’, one could make an argument for each of them. Conversely, one could also argue that, say, Batman or the Guardians of the Galaxy...
