Unless I'm remembering it differently, I could have sworn it was the Enterprise answering the Lexington's distress signal of a Romulan attack? But back to your point, I wouldn't mind the marines.
From reading everyone's point of view, this is a good point to consider. After seeing various onscreen adaptations of the X-Men's Phoenix saga, I cringed at how the some of the live-action stuff was handled, versus the one we got for the early 90s X-Men animated series. Some of content just...
To add to what you mentioned, the Dark Matter Anomaly from this past season of Discovery did feel like it shared similar ideas from Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens's Prime Directive novel.
Hell, I would be delighted if the showrunners get Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens to write for a...
I picked up a used copy of Yesterday's Son a couple of years ago. I like the idea of Spock using the Guardian to travel 5,000 years into the past... to meet his son.
I would love to see ideas borrowed from Vulcan's Glory, with story credit given to her. Perhaps the showrunners might find mining ideas from various novels for inspiration, even if they don't use the entire plot.
Long after TOS went off the air, the only new Trek we could get our hands on were the animated series, the (very) few movies that were out at the time, and of course, the novels from Bantam books, and later, Simon & Shuster/Pocket Books. The TOS novels under Pocket Books filled in the gaps...
Post-celebrations, Janeway stumbling upon classified schematics for a Federation spore-drive that was invented nearly a century earlier for a Crossfield-class starship. She bitterly thinks of all the lives that could have been spared during their journey home, including Ensign Lon Suder, Lt...
I was thinking the same thing. Since Terry Farrell was only going to wear the TNG uniform for only a couple of scenes, I'm betting the costume department just gave her whatever was on the rack that day.
I read somewhere that the costume department loaned one of Colm Meaney's uniforms to LeVar...
When comparing stardates, Caretaker takes place before Star Trek: Generations. The crew of Voyager wears the uniform we were introduced to from the early seasons of DS9, but on Generations, the crew of the Enterprise-D is seen wearing the uniforms from both TNG and those early seasons of DS9...
You bring up an excellent point that a friend and I were discussing an hour ago. Also, I forgot that in Yesterday's Enterprise, Geordi now outranks Tasha at that point in that alternate timeline, so it makes sense to have Riker delegate that task.
I always found scenes like these hilarious. From Yesterday's Enterprise:
Tasha: "Commander, advise Lieutenant La Forge that shields are below minimum."
Riker: "You're wearing a communicator, too, just so you know."
Oh, wait. Riker didn't say that. He responds with, "Acknowledged."
Also...
The majority of the people voted, myself included, gave this episode a "10." Are the writers of Discovery and Picard kicking themselves after seeing an animated Trek show, of all shows, was able to deliver a season finale that gave us character development for our main characters from the...
Yep! My favorite: the recap of The Best of Both Worlds, Part I ends with Riker saying, "Mr. Worf.... FIRE!"
Majel Barrett: "And now, the conclusion..."
Cut to black.
We fade back in, only to see Riker and Locutus staring awkwardly at each other across the viewscreen
And then, awkward silence on the bridge after the order is given and a few buttons are pressed.
For the audience, the music swells, we see the ship go to warp and credits roll.
But back on the bridge, I can only imagine the helmsman rolling their eyes after hearing the send-off line of the...
