Picture the Novelverse - Characters, Ships and More !

I just finished Rise of the Federation: Live by the Code. I would love to see an image of the Pegenoi. I always like when new species, that are not typical humanoids are introduced. Based on the limited description, I picture a huge lumbering species like the Dowutin from Star Wars.

    Question for Authors

Are you able to use a person, place, ship type, or species that appeared in any prior Star Trek novel or do you need the consent of the specific Author in whose novel it originated to use it? Thanks

Physical Strength of the StarTrek races

The Gorn are immensely strong compared to other Species. The Gorn captain was throwing 1000 pound boulders hundreds of feet which is dozens of times stronger than a human. It was able to take a many ton boulder careening down from a cliff and shake it off in a few moments. That would be like...

    Question For David Mack

That might have been the Slidarians, a Klingon client race. They were described as massive half ape/bear like creatures the Klingons were never able to conquer, so they co-opted them. If that's so, I probably wasn't far off as the Jiralhanae are psuedo-ursine with traits from Gorillas, Bears...

    Question For David Mack

Another species I always wondered about was the Tarmelites from the Vanguard sereis which has been my favorite Trek series so far. I always imagined Morikmol to be like a Jiralhanae from the Haloverse games. Was he something like that?

    Question For David Mack

Fear Itself is a really good read and I enjoyed it thouroughly. It mentions the predator species from his homeworld only in passing with a name "Ba'ul." However it doesn't give anything away on description or the dynamic between the Kelpians.

    Question For David Mack

Thank you again! You answered my question from my added post. I imagine this species was advanced and intelligent to be able to breed and cultivated the Kelpians as a food supply as suggested on the show?

    Question For David Mack

Thank you! If you introduce something like the Tr'rask beyond a name and a couple of descriptives, does it require consultation and coordination with CBS? Do they concern themselves with what an author may be doing with book continuity about something that may be further explored on the screen?

    Question For David Mack

How much fleshing out of the Tr'rask species mentioned in Desperate Hours did you do in writing the book? They are obviously large enough to cause impact tremors with their footfalls and formidable enough to subdue Kelpians and force them underground for survival. Beyond that do you coceptualize...

    Behemoth Alien

What species was the Behemoth Alien that picked Kirk up demanding his coat when he and McCoy first got to Rura Penthe?

    In A Mirror, Darkly

It sounds like you have given their physiology and environment a lot of thought. I like the living girder analogy, it's how I always thought of them after Arena. The speed at which the car sized boulder hit the Gorn coming off the cliff would have been the equivalent of getting hit by a Mack...

    In A Mirror, Darkly

I was just watched the episode again. I don't know if I like the 20 G deck plate trick to incapacitate the Gorn or not. Seems odd this trick was never used before in any of the shows or movies. I guess it was the only way to stop the Gorn. I have to admit, any creature that could take the...

    Yesterday's Son, Time for Yesterday

Thanks! I thought Zarabeth's species in the books was Vulcanoid biologically and as you stated it allowed for a normal birth in primitive environment. If I remember correctly, the nemesis of Zar was very large and physically much stronger than he in their battle which only makes sense if the...

    Yesterday's Son, Time for Yesterday

Was Zarabeth's species more Vulcan like physiologically? i.e., copper based blood? Some memory from the novels makes me think yes but I can't remember

Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

Just finished the novelization. I loved it. I always enjoy the reading experience as well as the movie. In the novelization you reference Nam-Ek's size to possible genetic experimentation with Rondor DNA. Was that in the script or a throwback to Nam-Ek of comic book yesteryear?

MAN OF STEEL - Grading & Discussion

The bit you put in the book about Rondor DNA, was that something from the script? Or was that just reference to comic Nam-Ek of yesteryear?

so ST 11 is another timeline [alt-reality]

Re: so ST 11 is another timeline I like it and it makes sense in time anomaly, space/time continuum sort of way.

so ST 11 is another timeline [alt-reality]

Re: so ST 11 is another timeline I disagree. Primarily because JJ Abrams has in numerous interviews stated this was the original timeline up until the day of Kirk's birth. You may not like the delivery or some inconsistencies that show up but to refute it would be telling the author you...

    Reimagined Gorn

Spoiler tagged now. Sorry, just trying a little zealous in showing what a 60 dollar piece of crap this game was and how screwed up they are in Trek lore and the Gorn. You know the game producers could of made it easy by saying this is in game continuity only and has no ties to Trek canon or...

    Reimagined Gorn

Re: Reimagined Gorn (SPOILER) SPOILER Below........ Sorry to burst your bubble but they make a point of it being the same again in the new movie. When the big reveal of John Harrison being Khan takes place, guess what? They go to the old Spock for...
