Re: What'sthe worst example of a character being"dumbed down"to explai
I don't know how much it really applies to the "dumbing down" part, but I've always found Sisko's explanation of linear time to the Prophets incredibly painful.
TOS: A man asks two of his friends for help with the problem of the week, they give contradictory advice and he does his own thing anyway.
TNG: A bald guy gives good speeches.
DS9: A black guy's speeches aren't quite as good, but he gives good punches.
VOY: A bunch of morons fly their...
If this had been a TNG episode, the crew would have carefully weighed the ethics and morality of separating Tuvok and Neelix and decided letting Tuvix live was the right and morally praiseworthy decision. Then Tuvix would make the decision himself to sacrifice his life anyway.
I think they were physically transported into the other uniforms. Perhaps a human's bio-electric field interacts differently with the transporter than a non-living piece of cloth, explaining why they swapped physical locations with their counterparts but their respective uniforms remained in...
Bashir's strength wasn't augmented, just his mind and his reflexes. Khan's strength was augmented. Bashir's parents wanted a smart kid, not a kid with super strength.
Vulcans are said to be 3 times stronger than humans. One of the Augments in ENT said they were 5 times stronger than regular humans. So there's that. But it's not just strength that matters in a fight.
Personally I think Spock would have won even without help. It wasn't that Khan underestimated...
Oh, I didn't mean their powers are all based on misdirection. They clearly have some kind of reality warping abilities and an impressive command over matter and energy. It's just when they're explaining themselves and giving us information about what they really want and the limitations (or lack...

In place of? Nah, I wanna see the Scarrans fight the Dominion! Also think of the awesome potential character meetings - Garak and Scorpius, Worf and D'Argo, Crichton and Sisko, Quark and Rygel...one of these days I should...
I think everything the Q ever tell someone about their true nature or motivations - and especially the extent or source of their abilities - is either an outright lie or a clever misdirection designed to test human reactions to a certain scenario.
Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which
Farscape. I want to see Moya and crew come out of the Bajor wormhole and hang out at DS9.
Stuff that I think is cool happened. Stuff I don't care one way or the other about also happened. Stuff I think is excessively moronic didn't happen.
But also there are parallel universes and alternate timelines to explain away any and all contradictions.
Chakotay: "I think I'm gonna sneeze...or not...yep, definitely about to sneeze...oh, come on...dammit, don't you hate it when you feel like you're going to sneeze but you don't?"
Well, the reason he failed the concentration game was that he was too busy thinking about how insanely hot Jadzia was. Super-genius or not, if you're distracted you can't play the meditation sphere game thingy.
Well, the other way to resolve pon farr is to have the living crap beat out of you. Maybe that's what Tuvok actually did in the holodeck, got his holographic wife to slap him around.
No, on second thought probably not.
