The Light at the End-- SPOILER Discussion Thread

I've listened to it twice now, and I just can't get in to it. Formulaic Nicholas Briggs on autopilot, with a plot that feels more like disconnected scenes than a narrative. I can't believe I didn't find this exciting. After this, Dark Eyes and the Fourth Doctor audios, it's clear that Briggs...

Moffat Promises "13 Episodes In 2014".

Just read this on GallifreyBase, pray it's true. A new Doctor needs the momentum of a full run.

50th Is "The Day Of The Doctor" (And Is 75 Minutes)

I wouldn't say their channels are among the worst (though BBC3 is definitely close!), but their programming is largely offensively stupid and patronising. They at least have the odd good show like Doctor Who, Sherlock, or The Thick of It. Foreigners just shouldn't take those as the normal...

50th Is "The Day Of The Doctor" (And Is 75 Minutes)

The BBC largely panders to the lowest common denominator. You've probably picked their best few shows from the past few years to watch out of context, but if you were to actually put BBC1 on for a Saturday night, you'd see where I was coming from. Unless you actually are a big fan of Strictly...

Clive Barker to write Hellraiser remake

Just confirmed by him on Facebook, supposedly Doug Bradley is to play Pinhead. I AM SO DAMN EXCITED RIGHT NOW. http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3261369/dear-hellraiser-fans-clive-barker-is-writing-the-remake/

The Light at the End-- SPOILER Discussion Thread

It was nice, but nothing Big Finish haven't done before. In fact, I'd probably say I prefer Zagreus.

50th Is "The Day Of The Doctor" (And Is 75 Minutes)

I'm a detractor of the BBC, finding its programming to be almost entirely terrible, and I thought it was a great trailer.

    Matt Smith would have stayed...

Bringing 10 back for a whole year as 11's partner would be a full-time contract. Doctor Who existed before David Tennant, damnit. The show should be looking forwards, not living past glories. If we could in fact call Series 2 a glory.

    Matt Smith would have stayed...

I don't see how the idea of bringing back the previous Doctor full-time is in anyway an exciting prospect. Sounds like it would have been a hugely stagnant, lazy step backwards for the show which has already struggled to escape 10's shadow of squee. 10 left years ago guys. It's time to move on...

    Jenny

My comparison seemed fair to me. I just think she's much more famous for who she's related to and sleeping with than for any of her individual accomplishments. Moffett had no real screen presence to speak of, which is why the actress's personal life was shoved in the media's face to make up for...

I've seen people defend The Next Doctor as not being a cheat designed to fool the audience and media. I've seen people do the same with the fake regeneration ending of The Stolen Earth. Some people are just.... .... yeah.

I don't think you really understood my post. David Troughton's character was just.... some guy. Moffett was cast as The Doctor's daughter in an episode called The Doctor's Daughter, and a huge publicity push was made of her relation to Peter Davison. I think people are showing themselves to be...

I think the fact she'd been denied previously for roles that weren't The Doctor's daughter, made it even more obvious that she was only cast for tabloid inches.

    Futuristic Horror Movies?

As much as I'd have loved it, being a huge Hellraiser boffin, I just can't see the Weinsteins allowing New Line Cinema to use Pinhead. I've marathoned the entire series of nine films twice within the past 2 months. Actually, I skipped Hellworld the second time. Even my fandom has its limits. ;)

    Breaking Bad Final Half Season

I don't think this will be a case like Lost, Heroes or Battlestar Galactica, where after the excitement dies down, people realise the shows were messes. Breaking Bad will be ranked alongside The Wire, The Sopranos, Deadwood and Six Feet Under as one of the best modern TV shows. I also don't...

I just find a lot of these publicity stunts quite tacky, and think they chip away at the show's integrity. Casting The Doctor's daughter as The Doctor's daughter is just too meta-showbiz for me. It's an episode that just existed to gain tabloid inches, down to the stunt-casting and stunt-title...

    Futuristic Horror Movies?

Well, Pinhead dies for good in the film Bloodline. Barker has finished work on a novel called The Scarlet Gospel, which is going to also kill him off forever, and has recently submitted it to his publisher. Sadly though, he's left it so long that it almost seems pointless killing off Pinhead...

    Futuristic Horror Movies?

I feel no guilt in my love for Event Horizon, and this thread has inspired me to watch it again. It builds a great, scary atmosphere and sense of dread. The Dead Space videogame pays great homage to it. The original Hellraiser is my favourite horror film, but the franchise overall really is a...

    Futuristic Horror Movies?

Dunno about the book, but the film was one of the few real horror classics of the generally rubbish 1990s. Love it. The Shining/The Haunting... in space.

    Futuristic Horror Movies?

Did somebody call for a horror expert? Assuming you've seen Alien, which is easily the best, then I'd suggest the excellent Planet of the Vampires and Queen of Blood. If you're on the look-out for dumb fun, then go for Pandorum and Hellraiser: Bloodline. It has some great moments but is...
