"Certain sections of fandom" don't run the property. When studios let that happen, you get the reactionary nature of Star Wars.
Let the studios do what they do. If you don't like what's being made, maybe watch something else. Just because something has "Star Trek" emblazoned on it shouldn't...
I would rebuy them on 4K only if they actually restored the burn in subtitles for the alien language scenes in the TOS movies. Other than TWOK, they are player generated with standard fonts and placement. TSFS had the subtitles italicized and even placed off center at times in the original...
The whole point, I thought, of bringing in Saavik and David was to give Star Trek a fresh addition of younger people to be with the veterans. Spock being gone, Saavik would take his place and David would figure in there somewhere.
But Nimoy had a change of heart and the series turned left into...
I'm not sure Barrows was a last minute replacement for Rand. I'm pretty sure the substitution was done in the draft stage, before she was written out of the series.
Justman made it 2/3 of the way through the third year. Coon was gone before the second season ended. David Gerrold? He was barely a force in the series. He wrote one episode and did work on I, Mudd (hardly the series' shining hour). He was simply another outside writer at this point.

I always felt with a little rewriting of the backstory, The Wrath of Kang would have worked just as well.
Imagine Harve Bennett wondering instead what happened to Kang and Mara at the end of "Day of the Dove." Perhaps the Klingon empire banished them for failing to kill Kirk. Or maybe Kirk...
I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying a worse looking effect could have been done in 1966 if it had been feasible? The actual lighting in the nacelles looked great.
Jerry Finnerman stayed with the series until well to season 3 before Al Francis took his place with "The Tholian Web." The show was still awash with color. Actually, the deep shadows were more a part of the early episodes than later.
All Our Yesterdays had outside shooting in the backlot for...
The was literally no time for further discussion and supposition. They had Kirk's theory that worked for their purposes in the moment. It doesn't really matter exactly what the thing was made for they just had to stop it right quick. Once it's finally shut down, they can send a research team to...
I love this last batch of episodes, even though some of them are really below par - the atmosphere is great. This is still one of the best after Justman left. Funny how five of the remaining episodes of the series all start with the same music cue from Spock's Brain - "Awakening."

That's it! It must have been one of the reprint collections they put out. I had the Star Trek collection once and they had all the movie parodies up to that time and I was really disappointed at the one done for The Final Frontier. Very short with a different artist, it was very blah.
